Founded in 1970, Universidad Católica de Cuenca is based in Ecuador, in the city of Cuenca. It also has extensions and buildings in Cañar and Morona Santiago. At Universidad Católica de Cuenca students can gain both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within a wide variety of faculties, including: health and well-being, engineering, industry and construction, administration, social sciences, information and communication technologies, education, agriculture, forestry, fisheries and veterinary science. There’s also a language centre, which offers English and French courses, both face-to-face and virtually. These courses are aimed at undergraduate students, postgraduate programme applicants and teachers as well as the general public. There are plenty of different sports teams including: football, athletics and basketball. Description The Instructional Designer (Teaching & Learning Innovation) works in close partnership with the Teaching and Learning Specialist and faculty and academic staff to design, implement, and evaluate innovative teaching and assessment practices. The role supports the thoughtful integration of AI and other emerging technologies as part of a broader effort to enhance student learning and advance discipline-specific thinking. Central to the role is ensuring that technology is used in ways that complement and augment, rather than replace, student learning, motivation, and intellectual effort. Grounded in evidence-based teaching and learning principles, this position focuses on translating pedagogical strategies into practical course designs, assignments, and assessments that strengthen foundational skills, critical thinking, and student engagement. The role emphasizes hands-on collaboration with faculty to pilot new approaches, adapt assignments and assessments in response to evolving learning contexts, and develop scalable models of instructional innovation. The Instructional Designer for Learning Innovation reports to the Director of the Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning. The Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning (HBCTL) partners with faculty, academic staff, and collaborators across NYU Abu Dhabi to advance inclusive, innovative, and evidence-informed teaching that supports student learning, belonging, and success. Key Responsibilities 1. Instructional Design & Faculty Collaboration Partner with faculty to redesign courses, assignments, and assessments that integrate AI and other learning technologies Translate teaching and learning theory into practical, discipline-specific instructional strategies Support faculty in aligning learning outcomes, activities, and assessments in technology-enhanced environments 2. AI Integration & Assessment Transformation Help faculty adapt and redesign assessments in response to AI-enabled student practices Develop AI-integrated, AI-cognizant, and AI-resistant assignment strategies Support ethical and pedagogically meaningful uses of AI in coursework 3. Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position with Responsible AI UK (RAi UK), based at the University of Southampton. The post is full-time for 20 months, with potential for extension. The post holder will not be required to be based at Southampton but must be able to meet in person with the team once a week. You will join Responsible AI UK, a £31 million UKRI-funded national programme spanning 28 UK universities and over 150 partner organisations across academia, industry, government and civil society. RAi UK is one of the largest responsible AI research programmes in the UK, working at the interface of interdisciplinary research, policy and practice. You will work alongside the CEO, Professor Sarvapali (Gopal) Ramchurn, and the RAi UK leadership team. About the role This is an opportunity for an experienced postdoctoral researcher to work at the heart of one of the UK’s largest responsible AI programmes. The post holder will translate technical outputs from across the RAi UK portfolio and the wider Responsible AI landscape into clear, evidence-based policy advice for government, industry and the public. The research will focus on: Agentic AI systems and their governance Physical AI and its integration with real-world systems Measurement and evaluation of agentic AI performance The implications of these technologies for government, industry and the wider public The post holder will design and convene roundtables, workshops and events with senior stakeholders across UK government, regulators, industry, civil society and international partners. They will synthesise findings into white papers, policy briefings and consultation responses, and will represent RAi UK at national and international policy fora. The role may require travel across the UK and internationally. To be successful you will have: A PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a discipline relevant to responsible AI, including computer science, AI, data science, science and technology studies, law, public policy, ethics, sociology, or political science Demonstrable experience translating technical research into policy-relevant outputs such as white papers, briefings, consultation responses or evidence submissions A strong understanding of contemporary debates in AI governance, evaluation, assurance, agentic AI and/or physical AI Experience designing and convening events or roundtables with senior stakeholders from government, industry and/or civil society Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences Willingness and ability to travel across the UK and internationally to represent RAi UK This post offers significant exposure to senior policymakers, opportunities for visible thought leadership, and the chance to shape national and international conversations on the responsible governance of agentic and physical AI. Work that matters The School of Computer Science and Information Technology (SCSIT) invites applications for an Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Information Management with a specialisation spanning archival science, records management, information management foundations, professional archival practice, and both digital and analogue preservation. This is a senior academic leadership appointment that carries expectations of internationally recognised research, high-quality teaching, professional engagement with the archives and records sector, and a meaningful contribution to the School's strategic direction. The successful candidate will anchor the School's information management curriculum and will build a nationally and internationally recognised research profile that advances the discipline. The role carries significant postgraduate teaching responsibilities, including HDR supervision, and offers opportunities to shape professional relationships with government archives, cultural institutions, memory organisations, and industry bodies. As a leading expert with an international reputation in Library and Information Science, the Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor will make a distinguished contribution to the academic leadership of the relevant information management programs. The Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor will enhance the research profile of Information Management through the development of a program of high impact and collaborative research, supported by competitive research grant funding in the areas of library and information science, human information behaviour, public and academic libraries, cultural heritage institutions, and information management. Experience To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:  Senior Lecturer Level C: A doctoral qualification in Library and Information Science or a closely related field. Demonstrated record of the development and delivery of excellent teaching and learning experiences in a range of settings and student experience levels, across the information management curriculum. Evidence of an outstanding research track record with high-quality outcomes within strict time and cost constraints and consistent with leadership in at least one of the following areas: Archives, Records Management, Information Management foundations, Archives professional practice, digital preservation and analog preservation. Demonstrated success in leadership and participating in excellent research projects, including collaboration with international stakeholders and developing partnerships between academia, industry, the community and the profession. Experience in postgraduate supervision, and a history of success in completion of doctoral and master’s candidates. Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the school community. Experience with cross disciplinary engagement, participation in competitive grants (desirable). Associate Professor Level D - includes Level C essential criteria plus: Demonstrated success at creating and leading a high-performing and productive research team, including significant collaboration with international stakeholders and developing partnerships between academia, industry, the community and the profession. Demonstrated ability and experience in academic leadership, including contributions to the development and planning of activities to support the School and University strategic priorities, and support for staff that encourages professionalism, innovation and a culture of teaching and learning and research excellence.
