Job Description HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVERSITY (HKBU) Founded in 1956, HKBU strives to become a world-class research-led University in Asia for the world delivering academic and research excellence in a caring, creative, and global culture. LANGUAGE CENTRE The Language Centre is a university teaching unit with the aim to empower HKBU students with competencies in academic, professional, intercultural, and digital communication, preparing them not only for intellectual growth but also for global engagement and career success. The Centre provides diverse learning opportunities in English, Chinese and other languages, including credit-bearing and supplementary courses and activities, and enhancement services. It houses four sections: Chinese, English, Putonghua and Foreign Languages, with a total of about 50 full-time teaching staff and a small team of research/project staff, supported by an administrative team. Part-time teachers are also engaged. The annual student enrolment in the Centre’s courses and activities is close to 15,000. We are now looking for a visionary, resourceful and dynamic individual who has extensive relevant teaching, research and administrative experience in language education to lead the Language Centre. Director of Language Centre (at the rank of Principal Lecturer) (25260419) Reporting directly to the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), the Director will lead the Language Centre to achieve its mission. Responsibilities: Lead and supervise the development and operations of the Language Centre, ensuring alignment with the Centre’s mission and University’s vision and strategic priorities; Oversee the design, development and delivery of the language curriculum and education activities; and collaborate with academic and administrative units in the University, as well as external partners to promote students’ language, communication and intercultural competencies; Drive innovative pedagogic practices in language education, with reference to the latest development in language education research and relevant educational technologies; and collaborate with local, regional and international partners to undertake relevant projects; Monitor students’ language performance and feedback, and use such data to inform the design and delivery of the language curriculum and activities; Supervise all staff in the Centre and oversee its administration; and Engage in university committees. Requirements: A visionary outlook and strong commitment to the holistic development of university students in general; and insights, experience and knowledge in language education in particular; A doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., language education and applied linguistics) and at least 15 years of experience including leadership and management roles in language education in the tertiary sector; Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, agility, management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with people at different levels, and highly proficient in both written and spoken English, fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) an advantage; and Creativity and openness to integrating innovative pedagogies and technologies into language education initiatives. About Us We are looking for an enthusiastic PET Radiographer/ Imaging Technologist to join our PET Imaging Centre and Guy’s Cancer Centre. The PET Centre is part of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College London within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences. As such, we run an extensive clinical PET service, including a wide range of specialist indications, and an extensive clinical research programme. Facilities include a cyclotron, radiochemistry labs and a new scanning facilities with 3 PET-CT scanners and a PET-MR. About The Role The purpose of the role is to be a member of a multi-disciplinary team in providing an efficient, effective and timely PET-CT imaging service to the patients, clinicians and researchers using the Centre, and to contribute to the development of the service, participating in all aspects of clinical and research scanning procedures. You will provide a high level of clinical care to all patients and research subjects, working within all relevant regulatory and clinical governance guidelines as required by KCL and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust at both sites. The successful post holder will demonstrate a sound awareness of good patient care and confidentiality. Excellent Imaging skills in clinical and/or research fields are essential and should be paired with up to date knowledge of imaging techniques, and knowledge of the principles of PET scanning and the relationship of PET to other imaging modalities. Previous post grad experience is desirable, but not essential and post holders must have hands on experience in Nuclear Medicine, CT or MRI. The post holder must have a BSc / Diploma in Radiography OR an equivalent recognised Nuclear Medicine Qualification. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a team, calmly under pressure, be empathetic and able to use their own initiative to problem solve. The role will work across both sites as needed to train staff and visitors as well as to provide cover. This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a 12 month contract (maternity leave cover). Job Details This Research Fellow will contribute to the UrEco 2030+ project: “Optimizing Urban Ecosystem Services Model for Urban Climate and Biodiversity in Singapore towards 2030 and Beyond.” This position requires experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related fields, with added expertise in ecosystem services assessment, ecological engineering, social sciences, policy making, environmental science, and/or urban environmental issues at the policy–academic interface. This position is ideal for an early- or mid-career researcher with experience in GIS or remote sensing who seeks to apply and expand their expertise in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will work with leading researchers and contribute to cutting-edge research and policy dialogues at the intersection of blue–green infrastructure, tropical urban ecosystem services, and urban resilience (covering themes such as urban flooding, thermal cooling, recreation, and biodiversity). The work includes Local Climate Zone (LCZ) classification and collaboration with Japanese university partners for integrated macro- to micro-scale analysis. As part of understanding the ecosystem services that are involved in Singapore, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform some field-based data collection during the duration of the project. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Identify, simulate, and analyse ecosystem service models using GIS, remote sensing, and field data. Manage, process, and analyse ecological and socio-economic datasets to develop and calibrate high-accuracy ecosystem service models. Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings into conceptual frameworks and research designs. Support cross–work package integration, particularly in developing tools for blue–green infrastructure policy and decision-making. Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and visualization. Draft and edit research reports, policy briefs, and academic manuscripts. Contribute to project management, workshop organization, and stakeholder or policy dialogues. Be involved in regular field work data collection and to perform environmental and biodiversity surveys (fish, birds and insects) as part of a research team. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related disciplines. Strong working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis techniques.
