Tribhuvan University, the largest higher education institution in Nepal caters the educational needs of nearly 400,000 students through its constituent campuses, central departments and affiliated colleges across the country. The faculties include education, humanities and social sciences, law, and management. The institutes include science and technology, engineering, medicine, forestry, and agriculture and animal science. In addition, the university carries out cutting-edge research studies through its four research centers—Center for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA), Center for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS), Research Center for Educational Innovation and Development (CERID), and Research Center for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST). Also, the university is running courses on distance mode through Open and Distance Education Center (ODEC).
Committed to providing high quality education at significantly low cost to people of all communities, TU is moving ahead with its reform agenda that include i) integration of information and communication technology in its educational programs, governance and management, ii) enhancing the capacity of its faculty members in order to enable them to adapt the undercurrents in their subject areas, iii) collaboration with the government and corporate world in program development and research, iv) renovation of the infrastructure to create appropriate learning environment, and v) embracing internationalization in its programs to attract students and faculty members from the region and beyond. TU collaborates with more than 160 higher education institutions around the world.
