Trent University, spread across two campuses near Toronto, was founded in 1964 with the aim of creating a small liberal arts university organised around colleges. Its first president drew inspiration from the collegiate universities of Oxford, Cambridge and – in particular – Durham. 

Unlike their Oxbridge versions, Trent’s five colleges are not academically autonomous: admissions and teaching are centralised. Instead, colleges provide students with community, identity, food, housing and extracurricular activities. Each also offers advice and support for students. 

Trent offers more than 100 degree programmes, across 13 faculties. These faculties include: forensics and biological sciences; indigenous studies and Canadian studies; social work and community wellbeing; society, politics and global studies; and health, nursing, life science and medicine.

Trent University is small: there are fewer than 10,000 students on its Peterborough campus, and only 2,500 on its Durham campus. Additional students are enrolled at the university online. These small numbers mean that housing in halls of residence is guaranteed: students can choose between single, double or triple rooms, and are also free to choose their own roommates. 

The 1,400 acre Peterborough campus includes 11 nature areas and 30km of hiking trails. More than 75 student clubs span everything from herpetology to marketing, frisbee, stem cells and K-Pop dance.

The newly established Faculty of Science at the University of Macau (UM) invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Computational and AI Biology. This recruitment supports the launch of the new Department of Biological Sciences, part of UM’s strategic initiative to strengthen its foundation in fundamental and applied sciences. As part of UM’s broader academic development plan, the university is undertaking a major structural expansion by restructuring and establishing five faculties in science and technology. Among them, the Faculty of Science will be formed based on relevant program of the current Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The new Faculty will include the Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics, and Department of Mathematics. The establishment of the Department of Biological Sciences will enhance the faculty’s multidisciplinary ecosystem and foster cross-cutting collaborations in emerging areas of science and technology. The Department of Biological Sciences strives to excel in both fundamental and applied research in biological sciences, particularly in areas of omics, computational biology, AI-driven biology, and generative biology. ROLES OVERVIEW: The broad mandate of the Educational Developer position is to support the implementation across XJTLU of learning and teaching.
