The Department of Electromechanical Engineering (EME) of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Robotics. This recruitment supports the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Robotics programme, designed to develop future leaders equipped with interdisciplinary expertise, hands-on proficiency, innovative problem-solving skills, a strong sense of ethical and social responsibility, and readiness for lifelong career success. FST is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at UM, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. All of its bachelor’s degree programmes in engineering and computer science are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and recognized worldwide. UM is among the top 0.1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science. The Engineering and Computer Science programmes in UM are ranked among the 101 – 125th in the THE World University Ranks. As part of a strategic expansion, UM will establish five science and technology faculties through the restructuring of part of its existing faculties. In which, the Faculty of Information Science and Computing will be established on the basis of the existing FST. Building on the current Department of Computer and Information Science in FST, the new faculty will comprise the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Artificial Intelligence, the Department of Microelectronics, the Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering, the Department of Financial Technology and Business Intelligence, and the Department of Robotics, which is anticipated to offer programmes related to Robotics. Qualifications Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. To align with future development goals, preference will also be given to candidates specializing in frontier robotics technologies. Specific fields include, but are not limited to: (1) Embodied AI and Machine Learning for Robotics; (2) Multi-Robot Systems; (3) Human–Robot Interaction; and (4) Robot Perception and Sensor Fusion. The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2026 and the position will be open until filled. Requirements Applicants with a Master’s degree in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Computer Science, Image Processing, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields will be considered for the position of Senior Research Assistant. Applicants with a PhD degree in the above-mentioned areas are eligible to apply for the position of Post-doctoral Fellow.  Applicants should possess minimum 3 years of research experience in image processing algorithms, with a solid foundation in computer vision algorithms.
