The 329-acre suburban campus is situated eight miles north of Baltimore and less than an hour’s drive from Washington, D.C.

Outside classes, students can attend talks, dances, Division I sport events or concerts. They can also join any of the 200 groups centred around academic and professional, arts, cultural, political, religious, spiritual, special, sports and recreational interests.

In terms of athletics, students can take part in competetive baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, swimming or diving, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, softball, indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball teams.

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join Dr Olorunniji’s team based at the LJMU School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences to take a leading role in the delivery of a 24-month project to uncover how proteins acquire moonlighting functions, using large serine recombinases (LSRs) and their directionality factors (RDFs) as a model. You will design, implement and benchmark machine learning pipelines for sequence-structure analysis and protein function prediction; lead genomic and transcriptomic analyses (including genome assembly and annotation). You will hold a PhD and a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology or a related discipline, with experience in protein sequence and structure analysis. You will also be fluent in the use of Python, and experienced in processing large scale sequencing datasets, constructing and maintaining sequence databases, molecular phylogenetics and genomic sequence analysis. Experience with deep learning for structural biology and bioinformatics, protein sequence/structure methods, and application of machine-learning approaches to biological problems are essential. You will be actively involved in regular communication with the Rice lab (University of Chicago) and will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts and participate in selected meetings and conferences. We are seeking an experienced Centre Manager to play a pivotal role in bringing the Centre's vision to life. Based at the Westmead precinct and supporting researchers across all University campuses, the Centre will serve as a collaborative hub that connects researchers, health services, government and industry partners to drive transformative research outcomes in child and adolescent health across Sydney and beyond. Working closely with the Centre Director and supported by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Research Centres Support team, you will provide operational leadership to progress the Centre's strategy. This will include, and not be limited to, establishing systems and processes that support the development and funding of highly productive research programs; actively engaging and maintaining key stakeholder relationships to support the delivery of strategic initiatives; and providing operational leadership to the centre, ensuring effective administration, governance, compliance, and financial management. You will have the opportunity to act as a key partner to research leaders across the University, fostering strong internal and external relationships and supporting the co-development and implementation of strategies across the Centre's research and underpinning themes, including consumer engagement, partnership advancement and clinical-researcher collaboration.
