Moving to a different country is a big step and can be quite challenging. Tilburg University offers dedicated services for international students, before, during, and after their studies. Student Life

The City of Tilburg: a student city.

Tilburg is the seventh largest city in the Netherlands and has a small but very vibrant city center with plenty of pubs and restaurants. The city offers excellent opportunities for culture, sports and relaxation.

Tilburg has a theatre, a concert hall, 4 movie theatres, various stages for amateur art and drama, leading museums and nationally known festivals like Festival Mundial. 

The economic environment in the southern part of the Netherlands is innovative and fast-growing. This offers opportunities for internships at international companies located in and around Tilburg. 

In addition, the city of Tilburg is conveniently located with just a short train ride to cities like Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, and has easy access to European capitals like Brussels, Paris, and London.

We provide facilities to ‘dual career’ students who want to combine academics with a career in sports. For example, those who have a training schedule and are preparing their participation in World Championships or the Olympics.

Admissions Procedure

Applying for our programs is free, and can easily be done online. Tilburg University has a rolling admissions process: your application will be assessed as it comes in, and you will know whether you are (conditionally) accepted within a few weeks.

Our application requirements consist of diploma requirements and English language proficiency requirements. In addition, we want to know more about you to determine whether a certain program is the right fit for you. Therefore, we may require you to write a motivation letter and/or submit a CV or an essay.

Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Forensic & Neurodevelopmental Sciences

About us ​​Working as part of a world-class academic team based in the Department of Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Sciences at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), the successful candidate will play a central role in the delivery of a high-profile collaborative research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).​ About the role Applications are invited from highly motivated and talented candidates for a position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on an NIHR-funded project evaluating Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews (C(E)TRs) for people with a learning disability and autistic people (the OptiCaT project). C(E)TRs were introduced in 2015 as a key intervention in ensuring that people with a learning disability or who are autistic receive the right support in the community and do not spend too long in hospital, if they are admitted. The impact of C(E)TRs on clinical and other outcomes has not been extensively studied. The OptiCaT research programme takes a mixed methods approach. The successful applicant will have a key role in the qualitative work package which aims to understand multi-stakeholder perspectives of the C(E)TR process and how this may be improved. This will include participant recruitment through various means, data acquisition (primarily through individual semi-structured interviews), data analysis, and working with the research team and PPI co-researchers to interpret the data and disseminate findings. In addition, the successful applicant will work with the team to deliver a prospective study within NHS services that investigates the current use and impact of C(E)TRs amongst children and adults with a learning disability or who are autistic. This will include recruitment activities, liaison with study sites, and conducting baseline and follow-up participant assessments. The post-holder will be supported in these tasks by the wider research team and Clinical Studies Officers. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered ​a fixed term​ contract until February 2028. The role will be based at the main IoPPN building at the Denmark Hill campus of KCL. Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria PhD in relevant area (awarded or near completion). Substantial experience of using qualitive methods and undertaking qualitative analysis. About us The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised as one of the best law schools in the world. We are based in the East Wing of Somerset House, a Grade One listed building, on our Strand Campus. This role is part of the Education Team in the Law Professional Services. We operate a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to spend a minimum of two working days per week on campus.  About the role The Senior Programmes Officer will sit in the Digital Education Team in The Dickson Poon School of Law. This role will support the School’s online programme portfolio, of which there are currently three online programmes, with two new programmes starting in 2026. Working in a fast-paced and digitally enabled academic environment, the postholder is responsible for managing complex queries, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting students from pre-enrolment to graduation and beyond. A key part of the role involves working with KEATS (Moodle) to support online learning. This includes updating course pages, uploading learning materials, and supporting the design and delivery of online assessments and activities. The postholder will also lead on the onboarding of new students, working closely with central teams to ensure a smooth and engaging start to their studies, coordinating assessments and results processing, and maintaining accurate student data, and will organise and manage events such as inductions, graduation, webinars, and academic support sessions. Based at the Highfield Campus, the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) is a regional service providing auditory implants for deaf children and adults, teaching and research. About the role: You will be working across several research projects, providing effective and efficient administrative support to the clinical trials and the wider research function within USAIS.
