The successful candidate will develop and maintain R packages in statistical design and modelling, while also providing analytical support to projects relevant to the Australian grains industry. This position will be part of a partnership between ANU and the Strategic Partners (Curtin University, University of Queensland, and University of Adelaide) of the Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry (AAGI). The Person We are seeking graduates with experience in statistics, data science, software engineering, computer science, machine learning, bioinformatics, quantitative biology, or closely related fields. Candidates must demonstrate strong scientific programming and software engineering skills, including the ability to design, develop, and maintain robust R packages and research software. A demonstrated commitment to reproducible, maintainable, and transparent workflows is essential. Candidates should also provide evidence of experience applying data science, statistical modelling, machine learning, or bioinformatics methods within research or applied settings, ideally alongside the development of reliable and well-documented software tools that support these analyses. The ideal candidate will have a background in statistics, data science, computer science, or a related discipline, with strong programming and software engineering skills, experience building maintainable and well-documented code, and a demonstrated commitment to reproducible and transparent workflows.
