Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt) can trace its roots back to the early 1800s, when the “Higher Trade School” was opened in the Hessian city. It was in 1877 however, when Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse elevated “Grand-Ducal Hessian Polytechnic School” to a higher education institution, and TU began to take shape. 120 years later, took on its current moniker underscoring its status as a university.

Technology is at the heart of the university’s academic offering, with natural sciences, social sciences and humanities all closely interwoven with engineering. So as to increase its knowledge, the institution has maintained a number of strategic partnerships with companies and research bodies, and the university is a driving force for economic and technological development in the Frankfurt-Rhein-Neckar metropolitan area.

The university’s 112 degree programmes allow its 25,000-plus student body a broad range of fields to study in. The university is set over five locations, with 161 buildings and more than 300,000 square metres of usable space.

Not many universities can boast their own airfield, but since 2005 the university has been the owner of Germany’s oldest airstrip, named after aviation pioneer August Euler. It is used for courses from aircraft engineering to aeronautics.

TU’s research profile, which is a core part of its mission, is based on several areas that have societal applications such as cyber security, future energy systems, and computational engineering.

Its alumni have carried on this civic engagement tradition with Peter Grünberg winning the Nobel Prize for physics in 2007. Günter Behnisch, a professor of Architectural/Building Design at TU Darmstadt, was the architect who designed the Olympic Park for the 1972 Munich Games. Bernhard Schlink, academic and award-winning author of The Reader, was a research assistant at the institution.

The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more. About the Role  As the Identity Services Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the operations and continuous improvement of the University’s identity management service – a collection of vendor solutions and custom application code that provides automated user registration, provisioning, authentication, access governance and compliance functionality for the University’s student, staff, and affiliate population. The role works closely with other practitioners and teams to ensure continuous identity management service improvement. Some of the key position responsibilities of the role are: Troubleshooting the operation of the University’s identity management platform (comprising Okta/SailPoint Identity Now/Entra ID/Dell Boomi/Active Directory and custom-developed utilities). Assisting with deployment and integration of new identity management capabilities within implementation teams of varying size, comprising IDS staff, business representatives, and resources from third party suppliers. Interfacing with University stakeholders and customers for identity services, ensuring their requirements are well understood and incorporated into the identity management services and initiatives. Identifying, managing, and mitigating risks related to the activities being undertaken by the role in line with IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. About You  As the Identity Services Specialist, you will be an experienced specialist, possessing excellent technical management and support skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve user provisioning issues across integrated applications, and the University’s identity management platform. You will be assisting with writing technical and user documentation, as well as conducting system testing that enhance the identity service. You are a driven professional with a growth mindset. The Opportunity The Institute for Culture and Society is home to interdisciplinary research that explores how culture, society, technology, and the environment are transforming in a rapidly changing world. We're seeking an Associate Professor, Environmental Futures, who will strengthen the Institute’s research depth by delivering field-leading research that engages with communities, industry partners, and policymakers. Your work will advance priorities outlined in the Western 2030 strategy, including unlocking global impact, Indigenous acceleration, and strengthening student success.
