The Technical University of Denmark dates its history back to 1829, when it was founded by H.C. Ørsted, the father of electromagnetism, and its graduates played a major role in the rise of Danish engineering. It is now bills itself as one of the leading engineering universities in Europe, and teaches the subject at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. 

Research at the university focuses on the physical sciences – including chemistry, biotechnology and physics – as well as on certain industries such as agriculture, management, transport and construction. The university says it is particularly focused on “usefulness to society, relevance to business, and sustainability”.

When it comes to studying, the “Scandinavian way” pervades how students are taught, the university says. Students are encouraged take responsibility for their projects, and there is also a “refreshing lack of hierarchy” and relatively informal relationships between academics and students. Professors are known by their first names, as in Denmark, respect is earned, rather than coming from wealth, job or car size. But don’t be late – even a delay of a few minutes is considered “quite rude”, according to the institution.

The university’s main campus is at Lyngby, around 15 km north of Copenhagen. It was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s when it needed more space, and now boasts more than 100 buildings. The campus was designed by a famous Danish architect couple, Eva and Nils Koppel. There are also other university outposts in Ballerup, northwest of Copenhagen, and at Risø, which sits on one of Denmark’s fjords and specialises in finding sustainable energy solutions.

Welcome to Apply for the 2026 Overseas Outstanding Young Scholars Programme through Beijing Normal University  I. Programme Overview The Overseas Outstanding Young Scientists Fund Programme aims to attract and encourage outstanding young scholars (including non-ethnic Chinese foreign talents) who have achieved notable accomplishments in natural sciences, engineering, and technology to return to or come to China. They will independently select research directions to conduct innovative studies, thereby accelerating the growth of young scientific and technological talents. This initiative seeks to cultivate a cohort of outstanding academic leaders poised to advance to the forefront of global science and technology, contributing to the nation's endeavours to become a leading scientific and technological power. II. Application Requirements The final requirements shall be subject to the 2026 National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Young Scientist Fund Programme (Overseas) Application Guidelines. 1. Applicants for the Outstanding Young Scientists Fund Programme (Overseas) must meet the following criteria: (1) Comply with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, demonstrate sound scientific ethics, and conscientiously embody the spirit of scientists in the new era; (2) Have been born on or after 1 January 1986; (3) Hold a doctoral degree; (4) Their research focus should primarily lie within natural sciences, engineering technology, or related fields; (5) Between obtaining their doctoral degree and 15 April 2026, applicants should generally have held a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D centre, with a continuous work history of at least 36 months. For those who obtained their doctoral degree overseas and have demonstrated particularly outstanding achievements, the work experience requirement may be appropriately relaxed (this does not apply to those who obtained their overseas doctoral degree through joint Sino-foreign training programmes). For applicants holding concurrently remunerated positions within China during their overseas employment period, the duration of such domestic employment shall not be counted towards the overseas work requirement; (6) Have achieved research or technical accomplishments recognised by peers, demonstrating potential to become an academic leader or outstanding talent in the field;  (7) Applicants must not yet have taken up full-time employment in China, or must commence such employment after 1 January 2025. Upon receiving funding notification, they must resign from their overseas position and undertake full-time employment in China for a minimum of three years. 2. Limitation Requirements: Compliance with national science and technology talent programme coordination requirements is mandatory. Applicants may undertake only one programme at the same level and may not apply for programmes at a lower level. III. Support Policies  1. Beijing Campus (1) Eligible for appointment to the Beijing Normal University Distinguished Scholar position, with direct appointment to senior professional title (full or associate professor level, subject to passing the university's talent recruitment assessment process); (2) Competitive remuneration and allowances shall be provided; (3) National research funding and matching research support funds; (4) One-off national subsidies and matching living allowances; (5) Provision of a postdoctoral team and doctoral student recruitment quotas; (6) Provision of temporary accommodation in accordance with the university's housing policy; (7) Access to nationally leading educational resources across all stages of pre-school and compulsory education. 2. Zhuhai Campus (1) Eligibility for appointment to elite talent positions, including direct appointment as Professor (subject to passing the university's talent recruitment assessment process); (2) Competitive remuneration and allowances within the Greater Bay Area; (3) National research support funding and institutional research start-up funds; (4) One-off national subsidies plus additional matching subsidies from Guangdong Province and Zhuhai Municipality; (5) Attractive on-campus relocation allowance; (6) Allocation of postgraduate student recruitment quotas in accordance with university policies; (7) Provision of temporary accommodation or rental subsidies, with eligibility to apply for university co-ownership housing; (8) Nationally leading comprehensive educational resources spanning preschool through compulsory education. Description The Genetic Heritage Group in the Science Division, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Associate to join our interdisciplinary team investigating the discovery of novel bioactive compounds from human, animal, and environmental microbiomes. The successful candidate will focus on wet-lab experimental approaches to isolate, culture, and characterize microbial strains from diverse sources, including human, animal, and environmental microbiomes. This role involves genome sequencing and phenotyping of novel isolates, metabolite extraction and preparation for LC-MS/MS analysis, and validation of biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC)–metabolite links using heterologous expression, pathway activation, and functional assays. The project provides deeply sequenced microbiomes from humans and the environment across a lifestyle gradient. The postdoc will mine this diversity to isolate organisms, validate biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), characterize microbial metabolites, and functionally test candidate compounds. The Post-Doctoral Associate will also purify candidate metabolites using prep-HPLC and fractionation, assess their biological activity (antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, or immunomodulatory), and work closely with computational collaborators to prioritize microbial strains and BGCs for experimental characterization. In addition, the fellow will maintain accurate laboratory records, troubleshoot experiments, and contribute to manuscript preparation and scientific presentations. The candidate will join a highly multidisciplinary environment consisting of population geneticists, microbiome scientists, statisticians, and computational biologists, as well as graduate and undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Evolutionary Biology, Microbiology, or a related field, and a strong background in microbiology, microbial genetics, natural product chemistry, or related fields, and hands-on experience with bacterial culture, metabolite extraction, LC-MS/MS, HPLC purification, and functional bioassays. Experience with microbial genomics, heterologous expression, or high-throughput screening is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team are essential. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the interface of microbiome science and drug discovery, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to uncover novel therapeutics from underexplored microbial communities. Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) to engage in cutting-edge research on channel modeling and characterization for communication and sensing in emerging spectrum for 6G and beyond, with a focus on the FR3, THz and optical frequency bands. This research will be conducted under the joint supervision of Marwa Chafii, and Murat Uysal. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct extensive channel measurement campaigns to provide a comprehensive characterization of the ISAC channel models characterizing the interaction between sensing and communication. The PDA is also expected to contribute to optical channel modeling, particularly for comparative analysis with THz bands, where RF signals exhibit quasi-optical properties. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include Expertise in several areas among the following is desired: radio system modeling, electromagnetics, antennas, propagation, RF frontends, radar. Job Purpose As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on industry innovation research where you will support all aspects of the project to investigate neuroplasticity and recovery of movement quality after stroke using multimodal functional brain imaging and 3D human kinematics. This funded research brings together multidisciplinary expertise from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Hospital (NUH), University of Glasgow (UOG), Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the areas of Neuroscience, Psychology, Movement Science and Rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Prepare data collection forms/interview questions/questionnaire and recruit and/or interview subjects. Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary. Perform computational modelling and analysis of the neuroimaging and behavioural data, with guidance from senior colleagues as required. Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor. Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies, foundations and Ethics Committee review. Prepare progress reports for the PI and funding agency. Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations. Coordinate and attend project meetings, monitor the project budget and work on other projects and initiatives, as required. Conduct literature reviews for publications and research briefings. Contribute to the dissemination of research findings (e.g., journal, conference, book). Support and collaborate with research assistants, graduate and undergraduate students, where applicable. Work in a team, contribute to the identification of possible funding sources and/or the planning and development of externally funded research proposals in an area relevant to the project. Perform other research-related tasks as required by the Principal Investigator. Job Requirements A good degree in relevant discipline (e.g. experimental psychology, biopsychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, neurology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, physics or related fields). A PhD* (or equivalent research experience) in a relevant subject (only for Research Fellow position). Candidates with a non-healthcare degree are welcome to apply. Familiarity with image data analysis tools such as SPM, FSL, AFNI, and/or DSIStudio etc will be an advantage. Signal processing and programming skills (e.g. with Matlab, Python) will be an advantage. Ability to use statistical packages such as SPSS, R for statistical analyses and visualisation will be an advantage. Some research and/or clinical experience/interest in the area of stroke rehabilitation or care will be an advantage. Key Competencies Good scientific writing skills with relevant publications will be an advantage. Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of supporting research projects and bringing them to successful completion. Possesses sound judgment and superior decision-making and problem-solving skills. Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Proficient in technical writing and presentation. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work. Major Challenges Some parts of the work (e.g. data collection, analysis) may be held at external sites (e.g. NUS, NTU) which may require swab testing prior to entry.
