The School of Engineering and Built Environment within the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Teaching Fellow in Construction Technology & Services. This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic team and play a pivotal role in delivering our accredited programmes across the full spectrum of property. You will join a supportive and ambitious Property and Built Environment team where your contribution will be highly valued and multidisciplinary, extending beyond core Building Surveying to support our BSc (Hons) Real Estate, Architectural Technology, and Housing programmes, alongside our postgraduate MSc offerings. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong practical expertise in building pathology, construction technology (both commercial and residential), sustainable retrofit, and the integration of building services. You will step into key module leadership roles, providing vital cross-disciplinary support to alleviate current faculty workloads in foundational technology, architectural principles, property development, and housing management. You will:  Take on the leadership and delivery of core modules, specifically focusing on Pathology and Inspection and advanced Construction Technology. Lead or co-lead Sustainable Buildings modules, guiding students through energy assessments, BREEAM/SAP principles, and sustainable retrofit strategies. Act as a support tutor for foundational modules and provide teaching support in Property Development, Real Estate, and Housing. Supervise undergraduate research projects and postgraduate MSc dissertations across a wide variety of built environment topics. Act as a Personal Tutor, providing academic and pastoral support to enhance the student experience and career planning. Engage with Industrial Liaison Panels and organize professional body guest speakers and site visits. You will hold a degree in Building Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Real Estate, Architectural Technology, or Housing Studies. Professional accreditation is essential, and you should be a Chartered Member of a relevant body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, CIBSE, or CIH. You will demonstrate extensive practical experience across the property lifecycle, including diagnosing building defects, structural appraisal, and the management of complex building services. About the role: The Senior Lecturer, Education-focused Academic will provide leadership of the Field Education team in the role of Academic Lead with oversight of relevant units and course teaching teams in both the UG and PG programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The role will engage in and increasingly develop and lead academic or other collaborations that enable novel and high-quality teaching methodologies in Field Education in the social work discipline. Field Education is a core component of social work education, providing students with supervised, practice based learning in real-world settings and is widely regarded as central to social work training. As a Senior Lecturer in Social Work, Education-focused, you will: Lead unit and course teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the faculty to develop effective unit/courses curricula and learning material (including through course leadership roles). Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements. Integrate industry, clinical and/or research practice into unit/course design to improve student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit and course level and provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Lead moderation of assessment tasks at course level and adapt practices to improve learning outcomes Foster a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the discipline Conduct mentoring of colleagues to help improve their teaching practices Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes. To be successful, you’ll have: PhD in a relevant discipline (for example, social work) and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area. Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership and line management of a Field Education team working with academics and professional staff, including planning workloads, recruiting, training and management of field educators and liaison staff. Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning. The Lecturer will prepare, coordinate and teach specialist courses relating to digital communications and representation in architecture. The lecturer will also be required to deliver courses in architectural design, and other course areas, and contribute to the design culture broadly within the School and the University. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.
