Your academic environment: A postdoc position is available in the Department of Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology at the Institute of Historical Theology, starting October 15, 2026. Our research areas include: basic ritual studies in the perspective of “Comparative Liturgiology”, study of Anglican liturgy (especially ordination rites), religious rituals in film, and studies of Eastern Church and Oriental as well as Early Church liturgies. In addition, the department also deals with modern pastoral-liturgical issues such as virtual worship services, liturgical hygiene, and much more.We are a motivated team; besides the head of the department we currently employ two assistants and one administrative assistant. A good and close cooperation is important to us. In addition, the department runs an internationally renowned open access journal (Ex Fonte). Your duties: Active participation in research, teaching and administration, this implies: Establishing or expanding an independent research profile, Participation in research projects and academic studies, Co-supervision of students, in particular of the (Eastern Church) doctoral students of the department, International publications and lectures, Project application and acquisition of third-party funding, Preparation and completion of a habilitation (ready for publication) or an equivalent qualification in the discipline, Independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance, Participation in research, teaching and administration, Participation in the publication projects of the department, especially the journal Ex Fonte (editorial supervision and technical implementation). Your Profile: Doctorate/PhD in (Catholic) Theology or equivalent qualification, Very good written and spoken German (proof of proficiency must be provided within one year of starting the position), Solid knowledge of university self-governance, particularly quality assurance, (higher education) teaching skills, Proficiency in at least one modern foreign language besides English, Good command of the languages commonly used in liturgical studies (e.g., Latin, Ancient Greek...), Computer skills, Ability to work in a team. Also expected are: Specialization in Liturgical Studies (and Sacramental Theology) or on a relevant liturgical topic (Ph.D./STD/Dr.theol.), Excellent written and spoken English, Teaching experience, Experience with e-learning, Experience participating in research projects, Publications in renowned, subject-specific journals (peer-reviewed). Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in marine ecology, marine biology, biogeochemistry, geochemistry, environmental science, or a related discipline. They should have strong research experience in field-based marine ecology, including leading or coordinating marine or coastal fieldwork, and demonstrated experience with marine restoration ecology. A track record of question-driven research, as evidenced by publications or other research outputs commensurate with career stage, is expected. The successful candidate should have excellent communication, organizational and collaborative skills, and be able to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team of researchers and students. The appointee will join an active research group at SWIMS working on marine ecosystem restoration, with a particular focus on developing novel technologies for habitat rehabilitation, environmental engineering, monitoring, and validation. They will play a leading role in coordinating a team of principle investigators with expertise in oyster reef, coral reef, seagrass and seaweed cultivation and restoration. Duties will include coordinating and leading fieldwork in marine and coastal ecosystems, and carry out sample collection, processing and laboratory analyses. They will lead data analysis and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, reports and grant proposals. The appointee will oversee junior research staff and research assistants, and will contribute to the supervision and mentoring of students involved in related projects. Example research focal areas such as materials science and engineering, blue carbon accounting, quantifying ecosystem functioning etc. are welcome, as are other innovative ideas that complement and extend existing work within SWIMS. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Southampton Clinical Trials Unit The University of Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a Cancer Research UK core-funded, UKCRC registered trials unit. The unit supports researchers across the UK and internationally to help design, conduct, analyse and disseminate clinical trials and observational studies that target important clinical and social health care questions. The role The unit is seeking to employ a senior medical statistician with experience of working on clinical trials in a regulated environment. The post is covering maternity leave, and will have responsibilities for delivering the urological cancer portfolio, which includes two large phase 3 trials in bladder and prostate cancer. You will work with junior statisticians and statistical programmers to oversee delivery of trial reports. You will plan work and communicate with the Head of Group in Statistics to support management of workload across the team. You will lead communication with chief investigators and the wider trial team on methodological issues, and more broadly support the SCTU to deliver the assigned trials. The role requires knowledge of the application of statistical methods to cancer trials, as well as activities relating to obtaining funding and dissemination of study results. Familiarity with statistical software such as Stata, SAS and/or R is essential. An applicant should be able to demonstrate an ability to work to timelines across multiple complex projects, and have experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
