The Department of Geography and Regional Research is part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. It is the largest and oldest Geography department in Austria. The position is assigned to the research group Physical Geography ENGAGE - Geomorphic Systems and Risk Research, which has a sound reputation in the domains of geomorphic systems and hazard and risk research including landslides, "human impact" on geosystems and spatial modeling of geomorphic processes as well as in the applied research including global environmental change, natural hazards and -risks, vulnerability, multi-hazard risk and early warning systems.

DAIM has a fast-growing group in business intelligence and analytics. Qualifications

As part of its strategic development, FBA is conducting a global recruitment of Associate/Assistant Professor in Business Intelligence and Analytics (Information Systems). Applicants should (1) be a promising or established scholar with a doctoral degree (or close to completion) in the field of Business Intelligence and Analytics (including Information Systems, Business Analytics, or closely related fields); (2) have the ability to teach any undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in Business Intelligence and Analytics, and (3) have ability to publish research papers in high-ranked journals in related fields. Remuneration

The remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. The Flinders University International Centre for Point-of Care Testing (ICPOCT) is a global leader in point-of-care testing (POCT) and is recognised for expertise in POCT research and teaching, encompassing chronic, acute and infectious diseases. The Centre’s research activities have made a significant contribution to increasing access to health care and improving health outcomes, particularly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and in rural and remote settings nationally and internationally.

About the Role

The Scientific Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the First Nations Molecular Point-of-Care Testing Program, helping improve access to infectious disease testing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia. Working within a collaborative team, you will coordinate online learning packages, including developing, editing and maintaining digital content and certifications, provide scientific and technical support, and contribute to quality assurance, data management, and stakeholder engagement activities that support the delivery of high-quality point-of-care testing services. The position also includes potential travel requirements, including visits to rural and remote communities and healthcare services across Australia, to support program activities, including training delivery.


	Coordinate and support the First Nations Molecular Point-of-Care Testing Program online learning packages, including management of digital content, operator training and certification processes, quality assurance activities, and stakeholder engagement.
	Develop, review and maintain training materials, digital learning resources, online modules, and program documentation to ensure alignment with best-practice standards and regulatory requirements.
	Provide scientific and technical expertise, including troubleshooting point-of-care testing devices and software, supporting quality management systems, and assisting with program reporting.
	Contribute to data management, research activities, publications, and website maintenance while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program outcomes.

About You

You are a scientifically qualified and proactive professional with experience in molecular diagnostics, point-of-care testing, quality management systems and online learning platforms. 	Degree-qualified in Medical Science or a related discipline, with experience in microbial pathology and/or molecular point-of-care testing (desirable), including the application of relevant quality and regulatory standards.

Position overview

The University of Canterbury (UC) invites applications for a continuing (permanent) Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on mechatronics engineering. This is an opportunity to contribute to UC's growing impact on the national and international mechatronics and technology sector, supported by strong research infrastructure and a collaborative departmental environment.

While the position is housed within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the successful applicant will operate within the Mechatronics Engineering programme, delivered jointly with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and across the wider Faculty of Engineering. Mechatronics at UC is inherently interdisciplinary, and the appointee will be expected to collaborate with existing staff and contribute to initiatives within this rapidly advancing field.

Key responsibilities


	Work with and grow research in the mechatronics systems field within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
	Contribute to the undergraduate (BE(Hons)) mechatronics and mechanical engineering programmes by teaching design, dynamics, and control-related courses, using project-based teaching methods where appropriate.
	Cultivate strong partnerships with industry, public research organisations, and other relevant national and international stakeholders.
	Mentor and guide students, fostering the development of future professionals in the mechatronics and technology industries.

We are looking for a passionate person who can contribute to the department's growth and UC's vision of being a leader in engineering research and education.

The successful applicant will have a strong research record in sensors, robotics, and automation, with a focus on primary sector applications such as agricultural technology and precision farming. Sound research experience in other compatible areas of mechatronics will also be carefully considered, including biomedical engineering, aerospace engineering, soft robotics, autonomous/unmanned systems, and sensor networks.

Preference will be given to those with industry experience. We are seeking someone with either a strong and credible pathway to developing an extensive industry network, or an established network of industry partners that can be further developed.

We are looking for enthusiasm for student learning and a positive attitude towards developing effective teaching methods. Previous teaching experience is preferred, including experience coordinating larger classes. A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusivity, including supporting the success of women and underrepresented groups in STEM, is essential. The role involves designing and implementing advanced control algorithms to coordinate multiple energy sources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and diesel generators, and dynamically assign grid-forming roles under varying operating conditions. The engineer will develop, simulate, and test controller logic using MATLAB/Simulink or similar environments, analyse performance across diverse scenarios, and document results for technical reporting. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in control systems, software development, and power or energy management applications.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in the research project to design a mobile DC microgrid controller for military tactical applications.
	Develop control algorithms for dynamic master selection, coordinating BESS, PV, diesel generators, and other sources.
	Implement predictive, rule-based, or optimisation-based control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or embedded software tools.
	Integrate controller logic with the microgrid model and validate performance under different simulated conditions.
	Conduct testing of control strategies under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints.
	Prepare documentation, flowcharts, control logic diagrams, and controller specifications for the final report.
	Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment.
	Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations.
	Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project.
	Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools.
	To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
	Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor.


Job Requirements


	Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university.
	Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar environments.
	Understanding of control systems, power electronics, or energy management strategies.
	Experience in microgrid controller design is advantageous.
	Familiarity with BESS control strategies, SOC management, or optimisation algorithms preferred.
	Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project.
	Ability to implement and test algorithmic logic using simulation tools.
	Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
	Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
