The University of Macau sincerely invites applications for the position of the Dean of Faculty of Medicine. Faculty of Medicine The Faculty of Medicine will be established through the integration and expansion of the existing Faculty of Health Sciences. The new faculty aims to develop into a world-class medical school that integrates top-tier medical talent cultivation, advanced medical services, and innovative medical research. In addition to the existing Department of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (to be renamed as the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), and Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration, it will establish the Department of Clinical Medicine, the Department of Medicinal Food and Nutrition Sciences, and the Department of Dentistry. It will also offer a range of professional programmes, including a joint clinical medicine programme with the University of Lisbon in Portugal. The Faculty of Medicine is expected to enrol approximately 4,000 students. Dean of Faculty of Medicine The successful candidate should have considerable experience in faculty management, academic strategic planning, curriculum design, laboratory setup and research development, and must be highly committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service. In particular, the candidates should have the following credentials: An earned doctoral degree in Medicine or related disciplines; Strong background in medical education and commitment to high quality clinical research and practice; A distinguished record of internationally-recognized research and scholarship; Evidence of outstanding academic leadership, demonstrated commitment to leading research and a record of effective teaching in higher education settings; Ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, drive technological innovation, and establish relationship with diverse stakeholders; Excellent management and communication skills; Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage. Remuneration Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in a fully funded research project addressing nanoparticle detection, characterization and growth analysis. You will present your research plan to the faculty and complete a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. This will be reviewed and adapted on an annual basis. You will work on your dissertation and towards its completion in time. We expect a large degree of independence paired with a high level of social awareness as the goal will only be achieved in a team. You will contribute to teaching (lab courses, exercise classes) within the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
