Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the study of reproductive biology and pluripotent stem cells differentiation, especially those specializing in germ cell development. The appointee is expected to demonstrate both independent research capabilities and effective team collaboration; manage on-going research projects on ovarian reconstitution; publish original research articles in high-impact journals; and secure external competitive grants. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The Role Two fixed-term full time Research Assistant (RA) positions are available at the Department of Psychology. The successful candidates will join the research project "Chasing Likes - Developing a Psychobiological Model of Adolescents' Social Media Use and Overuse Based on Social Reward". This large-scale project is led by Dr Niklas Ihssen and Prof Mary Hanley and funded by the Huo Family Foundation. You wi ll report to Dr Niklas Ihssen as the Principal Investigator and Professor Mary Hanley as Co-Investigator of the project. Funding for post one (RA1) is available from 1st August 2026 for a fixed period of 40 months (until November 2029). Funding for post two (RA2) is a vailable from 1st June 2026 for a fixed period of 28 months (until September 2028). The post-holders are employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in their own rights, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols. Successful applicants should be in post by 1st August 2026 (RA1) or 1st June 2026 (RA2), respectively.

Full-time, 12-month fixed term appointment, with probable extension for organised and dedicated Research Assistant An opportunity to provide research support to the Brain and Mind Centre and be part of the FMH Central Clinical School Base Salary $89,755 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre is a centre for discovery, innovation and integrative research strategies, clinical product development and actions that translate research into improved treatment and disease prevention strategies. The centre is made up of 27 research units, staffed by around 200 researchers and 100 students. The Youth Mental Health and Technology team puts young people at the centre of their own care. We partner with health services to develop innovative treatments for those aged 12-25 with emerging mental health disorders. The integration of cutting-edge research with safe and effective clinical care enables us too quickly and effectively translate our research findings into clinical services, facilitating continuous improvements to mental health services for the benefit of young people in Australia. We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to clinical trials and cohort studies of national significance for youth mental health. This position will be responsible for providing relevant support to the Brain and Mind Centre's Youth Mental Health and Technology team. This includes supporting the management and delivery of a health services clinical trials and cohort studies, preparing relevant educational materials, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research work, working with clinicians, academics, and youth mental health service providers, and contributing to the efficient operation of the research work area by providing essential research support. Your key responsibilities will be to: recruiting study participants, liaising with potential participants, their clinicians and services, where appropriate conducting diagnostic interviews with participants using multiple standardised clinical assessment instruments, always adhering to research protocol liaising and communicating with clinical staff (such as psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, youth workers), as well as research staff located on-site facilitate referrals into research studies and other forms of continuing care and conduct clinical/research programs as required coordinating the collection of data, including assisting other research staff with data entry and analysis assisting in presentations to clinical staff and other services to promote and provide information about the research studies assisting with the preparation of publications arising from the study ability to work outside of normal business hours on occasion and travel to the trial sites as necessary. About you undertaking a PhD or has completed an Honors year in psychology or a relevant field demonstrated experience in face-to-face patient interaction, with a focus on mental health outcomes familiar with the administrative requirements of supporting research activities possess strong attention to detail and a focus on quality when working with data experience in supporting clinical trials is highly desirable. Role Overview We are looking for a motivated Material Science and Engineering Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development and testing of materials for various applications, contributing to innovative projects that drive our mission forward. This involves researching, developing, testing, and processing materials like metals, plastics, and ceramics to improve product performance. You will lead and apply best practices in materials science and engineering. Key responsibilities include analysing material structures at the atomic level, conducting failure analysis, selecting materials for new products, and optimizing manufacturing processes Responsibilities R&D: Lead material selection, development, and characterization for applications in electronics, aerospace, or biomedical devices; evaluate and integrate new analytical instrumentation. Testing & Characterization: Design and execute experiments to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties; analyze data to inform design decisions. Failure Analysis: Root-cause investigation of material failures; recommend and validate corrective actions. Process Development: Optimize manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, coating); qualify and collaborate with suppliers with minimal supervision. Collaboration & Communication: Partner with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams; deliver clear technical reports and presentations. Sustainability & Compliance: Assess environmental impact of materials; maintain lab safety and regulatory compliance. Required and Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's in Materials Science/Engineering or related field + 2+ years of experience in materials R&D or product development. Hands-on experience with materials characterization (e.g., SEM, XRD, FTIR, mechanical testing). Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, JMP) and technical documentation. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Resourceful, meticulous and problem-solving attitude. Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies: Experience with CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS) and DFM/DFA principles. Knowledge of industry standards (ASTM, ISO) and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 13485 for biomedical). Characterization: SEM/EDS, XRD, DSC/TGA, tensile/impact testing. Software: Thermo-Calc, Materials Studio, Python/R for data analysis, CAD (SolidWorks). Processes: Experience with additive manufacturing, thin-film deposition, or polymer processing. Standards: Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, or industry-specific material specifications.
