Description The Deep Learning laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). The successful applicant will lead the labs music generation initiative. Our laboratory has expertise in deep learning, including deep reinforcement learning, large language models, and the theory of deep learning. The candidate will develop DRL algorithms for online and off-line tasks, for robotic applications and possibly for LLM reasoning applications in the future. The work will involve designing algorithms, running experiments on the HPC, analyzing the results and improving the algorithms. It will also involve extensive literature reviews. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in computer science, have significant experience with deep learning with PyTorch, and have expertise in reinforcement learning. The applicant should have already completed several major projects in DRL. The applicant should also possess excellent mathematical and English skills. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Continuing Full Time Position based at Bundoora and Alfred Clinical Health School, Alfred Hospital Salary level B starting from $114,855 plus 17% superannuation  About the position The School of Nursing and Midwifery undertakes a wide range of teaching and research programs in Nursing, Midwifery, Maternal, Family and Child Health, Ageing and Aged Care, Health Service Design, Health and Wellbeing, Time Critical Nursing, Mental Health and Workforce. These interconnected programs combine to form Centres of Excellence based within our clinical networks and Research Centres. The School of Nursing and Midwifery has immersed its curricula and research within a range of clinical contexts. The School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research programs. An essential element is the establishment of Clinical Schools based at Alfred Health, Austin Health, Northern Health and Melbourne Health networks. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements A good degree in Occupational Therapy or related fields. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in relevant setting such as hospitals, occupational therapy clinics, community-based setting, long-term care or skilled nursing facilities. Have deep, hands-on competence in the areas of psychosocial domain of health involving in occupational therapy or psychology Knowledge and experience in working with people with a range of conditions, including those who have physical disabilities, mental or social problems. Possess practice knowledge on administration and application of various occupational therapy assessment tools. Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT.  Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
