Rutgers University-New Brunswick was founded in 1766 in the city of New Brunswick, in New Jersey in the US. The university is the eighth-oldest higher education institution in the US and one of the "Colonial Colleges" founded before the American Revolution. The university is a public research university and a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. The university offers more than 120 undergraduate courses and majors including accounting, classics, entomology, information technology and informatics, medicine and many more. There are more than 750 student-led clubs at the university including the astronomy society, culinary club, geology club, book club and skateboarding club among many others. There are also more than 60 sports clubs including basketball, cricket, fencing, gymnastics, hockey, rugby, football and many more. There are also four large creation centres and an on site swimming pool. The university helps students to find internships in a range of industries including engineering, public health and journalism and the media.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Researcher – Potash brine and phosphogypsum valorization. Duration: 12 months. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary research project dedicated to the sustainable valorization of potash brine and phosphogypsum, with a specific focus on bioleaching technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the use of environmentally friendly bioleaching techniques for the extraction of valuable resources from these industrial by-products. The project embedded in a circular economy approach aimed at reducing environmental impacts while creating value from industrial co-products, namely phosphogypsum and residual brines generated by sedimentary potash processing activities. The postdoctoral researcher will investigate the valorization of each material separately through physicochemical and biological approaches, with the objective of identifying optimal pathways for resource recovery. The project will also focus on the combined treatment of phosphogypsum and brines, studying the synergistic and symbiotic effects arising from their interaction within integrated bioprocesses. This work will contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable strategies for the recovery of sulfur, magnesium, potassium and other valuable elements from industrial residues. Area of Research: Valorization of industrial by-products derived from sedimentary potash processing and phosphoric acid production. The research will involve physicochemical and biological treatment approaches for potash brines and phosphogypsum, as well as the development of integrated processes exploiting potential synergistic effects between both materials within a circular economy framework. Main responsibilities: Conduct a comprehensive literature review on potash brine management, phosphogypsum valorization, and related physicochemical and biological processing routes. Perform chemical, mineralogical, and physicochemical characterization of potash brines and phosphogypsum. Design and carry out laboratory-scale experiments to investigate separate valorization pathways for brines and phosphogypsum; Develop and evaluate integrated treatment strategies combining both materials, with particular attention to synergistic and symbiotic effects; Study process parameters affecting the recovery of sulfur, magnesium, potassium, and other valuable elements; Analyze, interpret, and synthesize experimental results to support process optimization; Contribute to the assessment of the environmental and sustainability performance of the developed processes; Prepare scientific publications, technical reports, and presentations; Candidate Profile: Required qualifications : PhD in chemical Engineering, biotechnology or related discipline. Proven experience in mineral characterization, liquid analysis and process development; Strong background in solution chemistry and bioprocessing; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong scientific writing and communication abilities in English; Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment. An exciting opportunity to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, as a Trial Assistant. The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a UK Cancer Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered unit and was set up in 2006 to design and conduct academically led clinical trials. The Unit employs trial managers, data managers, statisticians, regulatory staff and administrative support staff. We manage a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice. The Unit is core funded by Cancer Research UK, has support funding from the NHS National Institute for Health Research, and is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Role We have an exciting opportunity to work within the CTU. You will work with other colleagues in a team supporting our trial management team and will take responsibility for providing high quality administrative support across a range of activities. You will have excellent IT and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Previous work experience within an administrative or secretarial support role within a research environment is required. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver on a research project to develop an End-to-end misinformation and disinformation protection, awareness and mitigation pipeline. The need is for a real-time system, so efficient coding is important. Have a degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will definitely be advantageous. Knowledge of machine learning, pytorch, huggingface etc... Knowledge of speech, audio, time-series or signal processing is required. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilise industry-standard Linux-based computers for AI. Experience of authoring good quality academic publications. Manage undergraduate research assistants (if appropriate). Liaise with customers and collaborators in A*STAR and NTU, as well as collaborators in the UK and China.
