About Rogers State University
Basic information and contact details for Rogers State University
Rogers State University (RSU) can trace its history back to the founding of the Eastern University Preparatory School in 1909 in the city of Claremore, Oklahoma. The school closed in 1917 but re-opened two years later as the Oklahoma Military Academy providing high school and junior college level education to members of the United States armed forces. During the 1960s increasing public opposition to the Vietnam War saw a fall in enrolment and in 1971 the academy became a civilian junior college providing two-year associate degree programs. Enrolment grew quickly and in 1982 the college changed its name to Rogers State University after the county it served. In 2000 RSU gained accreditation and became a public, four-year residential liberal arts university. Enrolment has continued to grow apace, 70 per cent since accreditation making RSU the fastest-growing university in the state of Oklahoma.
The University has over 4,000 students studying undergraduate degrees, both four-year bachelor’s degrees and two-year associate degrees and has an MBA program at the graduate level. The university awards bachelor’s degrees in almost 20 disciplines as well as a number of associate degrees and around 30 minors. As of 2014 the college offers a graduate degree program in the form of a Master of Business Administration.
The university’s main campus occupies College Hill overlooking the city of Claremore on land purchased by the citizens of Claremore with $3,000 dollars they raised for the purpose of founding an educational establishment. The university’s oldest building, Preparatory Hall, features a grand golden dome and remains the centre of the campus. RSU also has campuses in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Pryor Creek, Oklahoma.

Research Fellow in Hyperuniform Disordered Materials
University of Southampton
United Kingdom, Southampton
University of Southampton
United Kingdom, Southampton
You will join our team at the Optoelectronics Research Centre and work on the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council funded project HyMeta: Hyperuniform Disordered Metasurfaces for Selective Absorbers. Your primary role will be to undertake theoretical and computational research on hyperuniform disordered photonic materials for frequency-selective solar-thermal absorbers based on metal–dielectric–metal resonator platforms. The project develops hyperuniform disordered metasurfaces, a novel class of photonic structures in which structural correlations are precisely controlled to achieve selective absorption of solar radiation and suppression of thermal emission, enabling highly efficient solar-thermal materials. Your work will focus on the development of theoretical and computational models for light–matter interaction in hyperuniform disordered plasmonic structures, including electromagnetic modelling, optimisation of metal–dielectric–metal resonators, and physics-informed machine-learning approaches for inverse design of frequency-selective metasurfaces. You will also work closely with academic collaborators and industrial partners, contributing to joint research activities and scientific publications. The position is fixed term until 31st August 2027, with a nominal start date of 15th May 2026. To be successful you will hold a PhD* degree (either awarded or nearing completion) or equivalent experience in fields related to the project. You should have substantial practical knowledge and experience in the following areas: nanophotonics disordered photonic materials electromagnetism in structured media computational electromagnetic modelling Strong computational skills and experience with electromagnetic modelling methods including FDTD, FEM, and RCWA are essential as well as experience in developing bespoke electromagnetic simulation software and/or using commercial software including COMSOL Multiphysics and Ansys Lumerical using high-performance computing resources. Experience with machine-learning techniques and previous collaboration with experimental groups or industrial partners would also be advantageous. You should be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including theoretical, computational, experimental, and industrial researchers. For an informal discussion about the position, please contact Prof Marian Florescu (m.florescu@soton.ac.uk). Equality, diversity and inclusion are central to our ethos at the University of Southampton.
