The position is limited initially to four years, with the possibility of a permanent extension after an evaluation of the University of Vienna's Core Facility 'ACTRIS Aerosol Observatory' in the fourth year. Your personal sphere of influence: As a technician with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (e.g. a focus on (micro-)electronics, optoelectronics, automation technology), mechatronics, aerospace engineering, technical computer science or similar or a recognized equivalent (e.g. state-certified technician (D)) you will support the research work of the Aerosol Physics and Environmental Physics working group. In an international university research environment, you can expect a varied job, and as part of our team of technicians, you will exchange ideas and complement each other’s work. You will be involved in the construction and operation of the future ACTRIS National Facility/University of Vienna Core Facility for in-situ aerosol measurements and will work on trend-setting projects in atmospheric and climate research. In doing so, you will regularly cooperate with leading international institutions such as the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Your future tasks: You will support the scientists of the aerosol group with technical solutions, and maintenance and troubleshooting of measurement instruments. You will help set up and operate measurement systems, develop instrument controls and real-time visualizations. You will contribute to the operation and further development of IT infrastructure and measurement infrastructure. You will automate the operation and calibration of aerosol instruments, professionalize data collection and establish robust work-flows for data management and processing. You will support scientists in data analysis and carry out quality controls. You will support the monitoring of the measurement instruments and data collection during multiweek measurement campaigns with research aircraft abroad, in cooperation with international partner institutions. You will support the ongoing operation of the laboratories (calibration, maintenance and spare parts management/orders). You will create and maintain technical documentation. This is part of your personality: Requirements Completed Bachelor's degree, or recognized equivalent (e.g. state-certified technician (D)) in the field of electrical engineering (e.g. focus on (micro-)electronics, optoelectronics, automation technology), mechatronics, aerospace engineering, technical computer science or similar Good programming skills, ideally in Python Basic knowledge of electronics Very good knowledge of English (C1+) Reliable, regular presence in the laboratory on site in Vienna Willingness to travel: internationally for measurement campaigns in the USA and other countries with a typical duration of several weeks are necessary. We are seeking a Consumer Involvement Lead to play a key role in establishing and delivering the SydneyMSK Consumer Involvement Lab, an exciting pilot initiative designed to embed consumer voices across the research lifecycle. Working closely with the Centre Director, Prof Mandy Nikpour, Centre Manager, Stephanie Beshara, and senior academic leaders, including Prof Claire Ashton-James, you will support the coordination of consumer involvement activities, build meaningful partnerships between researchers and consumers, and contribute to the development of practical tools, resources, and engagement processes that strengthen consumer participation in research. This is a unique opportunity to help shape an emerging initiative with real impact, applying your expertise in consumer engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and project delivery to influence how research is designed, conducted, and translated into better health outcomes. Your key responsibilities will be to: Support the establishment and day-to-day coordination of the Consumer Involvement Lab, working closely with senior academic leaders to embed meaningful consumer involvement across research activities. Develop and implement processes, tools, and practical resources that strengthen consumer participation and support high-quality consumer-researcher partnerships. Coordinate workshops, consultations, training sessions, and other engagement activities that build capability in consumer involvement across research teams and communities. Demonstrated experience in consumer and community involvement within health, research, or related settings, with a strong understanding of co-design, participatory approaches, and best practice engagement frameworks. Proven project management, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, monitor budgets and expenditure, and deliver high-quality outcomes with strong attention to detail. Highly developed communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including consumer and community partners. About you Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field, ideally in MSK or public health, with an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Demonstrated experience in health economics, health services research, biostatistics, or a related discipline, with knowledge of health economics methodologies such as economic evaluation, economic modelling, discrete choice experiments, and quality of life research. Demonstrated track record of grant applications, peer reviewed publications and/or policy-relevant report in health economics, or a related area Experience with data linkage projects to evaluate healthcare resource use and costs Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, monitor budgets and expenditure, maintain accurate records, and deliver outcomes with a high level of organisation and attention to detail. Proven experience supporting research or health-related projects and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across academic, healthcare, or partner organisations.
