The Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (or the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal) was established in 1979 and started teaching students in 1981. It specialises in health and social protection, science, mathematics and computer science and social sciences, business and law. It currently comprises five higher schools: Setúbal Higher School of Technology (ESTSetúbal), School of Education (ESE), School of Business Sciences (ESCE), School of Technology of Barreiro (ESTBarreiro) and School of Health (ESS). There is also an organisational unit, aimed at supporting students: the Social Action Services (SAS), responsible for housing, food, psychological support and sports and recreational activities. The university has approximately 6,000 students and 650 teachers and offers more than 85 higher courses, including Professional Higher Teaching Diplomas (CTeSP), undergraduate, masters and postgraduate degrees. It has two campuses: in the cities of Setubal and Barreiro, which are in the Greater Lisbon Metropolitan Area. The university's aim is to stimulate professional knowledge, without neglecting the scientific and works as a safe space for the training of professional community-serving individuals. The Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal has a strong connection with the community, educational institutions, hospitals and companies in the region. Its motto is “Juntos fazemos o amanhã,” meaning together we make tomorrow. Setubal, as a region, is known for its paper and motorcar industries, as well as its varied landscape of ocean and mountains, including a large protected area which may soon become a UNESCO Human Heritage Site. Setúbal is a coastal town known for its fishing, Serra da Arrabida National Park, Baroque-style churches and Bocage traditions.

B1 lit. b (postdoc) Limited until: 30.06.2030 Reference no.: 5770 The new Core Facility NexusSoSci is being established at the Faculty of Social Sciences. NexusSoSci provides the infrastructural and technical foundations for a central service and competence center for social science research. It brings together qualitative and quantitative methodological expertise in data collection, data preparation, and data analysis. The three Senior scientists and the coordinator employed in the facility play a key role in developing the digital, material, and spatial infrastructures that supports research projects, training, and networking activities. The position will initially be based at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences and then transferred to a subunit following a positive evaluation. We intend to fill the position of Senior Scientist for the Online-Panel Lab from 1st of July onwards, but latest by 01 September 2026. The position is initially limited to four years. Conversion to a permanent position is generally possible, contingent on a positive evaluation and secured funding for the Core Facility. Your personal sphere of influence: The Online Panel Lab within NexusSoSci serves as the central social science service and competence center for quantitative individual-level data collections, operating an online panel recruited through random samples drawn from the Central Population Register. The Senior Scientist plays a key role by (1) establishing and advancing long-term, scientifically robust data collection via an online panel; (2) providing scientific advice on the planning of research projects; and (3) leading training and networking activities. Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF WELLNESS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Social Work (25260796) The Academy is dedicated to developing high-quality research that addresses social problems, and to engage in evidence-based research to inform macro and micro practice in social work and counselling. As a training institution, the Academy is committed to delivering high-quality education and training in social work, social policy and counselling and in related disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The prospective scholars are encouraged to participate and contribute by means of research, training and consultation to the professional community in Hong Kong. The appointee is expected to conduct cutting-edge academic research, contribute to academic programme development and assume high-level service and administrative responsibilities. We are looking for outstanding candidates who can complement or add to our existing strengths in social gerontology, healthy aging, life course, mental health; application of innovative approaches in practice; smart society and wellbeing; and macro practice. Candidates who have expertise in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply to contribute to the advancement of the Academy/Faculty. Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral degree, a proven track record of impactful research and tertiary teaching experience.
