Polisi University, in the Albanian capital of Tirana, brands itself as a space for thinking about spatial development policies. What this means in practice is that it offers a focused range of design-related degrees, in subjects such as art and design, architecture, urban planning and engineering and technology.
Polis offers three-year undergraduate degrees in art-design, civil engineering, environmental studies, computer science and business administration. In addition, it offers two five-year integrated bachelor’s and master’s degrees, in architecture and urban design, and in urban planning and management.
The primary language of instruction is Albanian. However, the university is becoming increasingly internationalised and has recruited a number of foreign academics. As a result, its second official language is now English.
Student clubs include opportunities to meet professionals in fields of interest. There are also a range of sporting activities available, including aerobics, volleyball and basketball, as well as a Polis football league. There are also music, photography and charitable-fundraising societies, and a “Walking the city” club organises walks through Tirana’s pedestrianised areas.

Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to support and contribute to an industry innovation research project. The Research Engineer will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and the research team to develop deep learning-based computer vision algorithms and software for object detection, classification, and segmentation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project together with the PI, Co-PI, and research team to ensure timely achievement of project deliverables. Undertake the following specific responsibilities in the project: i. Develop, train, and optimise deep learning models for object detection, classification, and segmentation using real-world datasets. ii. Design and implement software modules to integrate the models into a working system prototype. iii. Perform data annotation. iv. Conduct experiments, analyse results, and iterate models for improved accuracy and efficiency. v. Prepare project documentation, technical reports, and academic publications. vi. Possess strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in: Deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) Deep learning models (e.g., YOLO, U-Net, EfficientNet, ResNet, FPN, Fast R-CNN) Computer vision techniques and algorithms Python and relevant libraries (e.g., PyQt, OpenCV, NumPy, scikit-learn), particularly for developing Windows desktop application software incorporating deep learning models 2. To design optical metasurfaces and material platforms exhibiting time-varying responses. Using adjoint-based optimization and spatial structuring, to realize complex time-modulated medium dynamics with realistic material constraints and experimentally feasible excitation and driving schemes. To fabricate and experimentally characterize the designed prototypes, and to validate their reconfigurable and time-varying performance through quantitative comparison with analytical modeling and full-wave simulation results. This position is part of the MetaTune Doctoral Network "Reconfigurability using inversely designed metasurfaces", which has been funded under the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) program. The role We are seeking an outstanding Clinical Research Training Fellow to help spearhead the development and clinical testing of a novel non-invasive brain stimulation sleep therapy for Alzheimer’s disease. The project is funded by the Medical Research Council and will be conducted at the UK Dementia Research Institute Centres at the University of Surrey and Imperial College London The successful applicant will, together with other team members, be responsible for recruiting individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease to the study and for administering non-invasive brain stimulation (phase-locked TI electric fields and audio), electroencephalography (EEG), and cognitive paradigms during wakefulness and sleep. The successful applicant will also work alongside other team members to examine patients’ responses by analysing EEG and behavioural data. Candidates are expected to hold a medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and be fully registered with the GMC, have experience working with patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia, and have knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures The successful applicant will be clinically mentored by Chris Butler (the project’s clinical lead) and will be an active member in Derk-Jan Dijk's (University of Surrey) and Nir Grossman's (Imperial College) research groups.
