Osun State University was established in 2006 as a multi-campus university in the Nigerian state of Osun. The university’s main campus is located in Osogbo.
The university offers a wide range of courses from an undergraduate to postgraduate level, including a bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degree, and doctor of philosophy. There are seven colleges at the university which include: agriculture, education, health sciences, humanities and culture, law, management and social sciences, and science, engineering and technology.
All prospective students must pass an English Language course before admission, and earn an acceptable score in the matriculation examination. The university also carries out an aptitude test for all students before admission.
Across campus there’s lots for students to get involved with from sports to innovation. The university’s sports unit organises competitions across departments and faculties, and other colleges and universities in a range of sports such as soccer, table tennis, and athletics. Gaining a strong reputation in Nigerian sports, the university won six medals at the 2011 NUGA games held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. For students who are involved in developing theoretical and research skills in sport and exercise, they can choose to study sporting courses from sports management to sports journalism.

About us: The post will be based in the KCL Social, Genetic, and Developmental Psychiatry Centre, within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). The Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre is uncovering the genetic and environmental influences on mental health and psychiatric disorders. Our research encompasses behavioural genetics, molecular genetics, experimental psychology and psychiatry, and neuroimaging. Scientists at the SGDP lead some of the UK’s foremost longitudinal cohort and twin studies including TEDS, eRISK, Dunedin, IMAGEN and GLAD. The NIHR BioResource Centre Maudsley leads the NIHR BioResource for Mental Health. We focus on recruiting participants experiencing mental health conditions, as well as healthy people. Alongside GLAD MHG and The GLAD study, Prof. Breen’s team boasts an accomplished portfolio of clinical and genetic studies which aim to improve treatment and outcomes for those affected by anxiety, depression, eating disorders and other mental health conditions. About the role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Laboratory Technician to support the large-scale biobanking of blood samples for the Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) Study Mental Health Goals (MHG) OMICs Programme. This project represents the largest multiomics programme for severe depression worldwide, designed to accelerate discovery in psychiatric genomics and to provide a long-term resource for the research community. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a cross-disciplinary environment, applying cutting-edge biobanking and genomic technologies to mental health research. The role will centre on the receipt, processing, and storage of thousands of blood samples, ensuring accurate sample tracking and data linkage within our ISO17025-accredited pipelines. The postholder will also support semi-automated sample processing, DNA extraction, and preparation of material for downstream genomic assays including Illumina genotyping and Oxford Nanopore sequencing. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of laboratory scientists, bioinformaticians, and study coordinators, the postholder will ensure the highest quality of biobanking and data integrity. Responsibilities will include contributing to laboratory reports, maintaining detailed records, and supporting quality assurance processes. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to flagship mental health genetics studies, helping to create a resource that will underpin psychiatric and population health research for years to come. About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a multi-disciplinary research group led by Dr N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo at King’s College London’s Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the forefront of systems medicine, focusing on the progression of liver cancer and immune mediated liver damage. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to unravel the metabolic drivers of HCC biology and transplant rejection through cutting-edge spatial multi-omics and computational metabolic modeling. The role involves developing and implementing computational methods to integrate single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and metallomics data. Using advanced techniques such as MALDI-MSI metabolic profiling and enzyme-constrained GEMs, the candidate will generate region-specific models to predict metabolic fluxes associated with liver disease. This research will provide key insights into the metabolic alterations driving T cell function within the liver microenvironment in various liver diseases, including transplant rejection and cancer, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The post is based at the James Black Centre, Denmark Hill campus, and the candidate will report directly to Dr. N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo. The Role and the Department The Department of Biosciences is composed of 68 academic staff and research fellows; around 50 research and technical support staff; over 90 Research Postgraduate students and over 500 Single Honours undergraduate students. We offer a 3-year BSc degree programme in Biological Sciences and a 4-year MBiol, while also contributing to Natural Sciences. We also run a PGT in Plant Biotechnology with further PGT programmes scheduled for future delivery. Our research and teaching is supported by outstanding research infrastructure in advanced bioimaging (including super-resolution, confocal and electron microscopy), genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, high-performance computing and field research. We promote research at the interface with other disciplines.
