It started in 1964 with a faculty of science containing departments of chemistry and applied science, and grew steadily from there.

Students can choose from a range of courses including science, engineering, information science, informatics, bioscientists, biosphere/geosphere, education, management and veterinary science.

It runs an Intensive Japanese Language programme for overseas students in partnership with Kurashiki University of Science and Arts and Chiba University of Science.

Embedded Youth Outreach Programme (EYOP) Part time (0.6 or 0.8), fixed-term (until 30 June 2027) position at our Hawthorn campus Academic Level A / Level B salary About the Role Swinburne University of Technology is seeking a motivated and collaborative Research Fellow to join the Embedded Youth Outreach Program Evaluation Team at the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the evaluation of an early intervention program for young people who are at risk of offending and to Swinburne’s broader goals around industry engaged applied research. As a key member of the team, you will be involved in research design, developing, maintaining and monitoring data collection protocols, data collection, planning statistical approaches to analysis, data analysis, managing project logistics, liaison with industry stakeholders, and the development of research reports and publications. We are looking for someone with relevant experience designing and conducting research and other projects independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. You’ll need to be a strong team player with the ability to work independently and contribute across a range of technical, project management, and communication activities. This position offers the chance to work at on a real-world problem with an industry partner to help to contribute to a safer society and better outcomes for at risk young people. About You  You are a motivated and collaborative researcher with experience designing and conducting research projects independently and within multidisciplinary teams. You bring strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive collaborations across academic, government and industry settings. For appointment at Level A, you will demonstrate relevant experience in applied research and project delivery, while Level B applicants will bring at least three years of relevant post-doctoral experience and a strong track record of collaborative, industry-engaged research. Description The Perception and Active Cognition laboratory in the Center for Brain & Health, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the mechanisms underlying mental processing speed. The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project that links processing speed measures to previously acquired functional and structural MRI data. The project will also involve simultaneously acquired and co-registered fMRI and EEG measurements. Measures of cognitive “Speed of Processing” are important for studies of healthy aging and many disorders, including multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, as well as diabetes and obesity. This project investigates the neural correlates of Speed of Processing and its subcomponents, translating into a more complete understanding of the mechanisms involved and their role in brain health. This project combines MRI and EEG/MEG studies with behavioral, genetic, and clinical measures to yield a more complete picture of how processing speed is related to health outcomes.  The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.  Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field. Strong neuroimaging data processing skills relevant to the project are required. Applicant must have no more than five years post receipt of this degree are eligible for a postdoctoral appointment.
