Ohio State University was established in 1870 as an agricultural and mechanical college, but with a wide-ranging curriculum that included English and ancient and foreign languages. This legacy has continued to the present day, with the university still offering a broad liberal arts education.

With just 24 students in its initial cohort in 1873, the public university is now one of America’s largest higher education institution. More than 50,000 students study across 15 colleges at its main 1,900-acre campus. Four buildings on campus are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Hale Hall (originally Enarson Hall), Hayes Hall, Ohio Stadium, and Orton Hall.

The university is renowned for its academic medical centre and cancer hospital and research centre. It also boasts more than 10 museums and galleries, a 60-acre arboretum and a four-acre park dedicated to cancer survivors with sculptures, a walkway and plaques. In 2013-14, the university’s total research expenditure topped $982 million.

Students can also benefit from culture in Columbus, which features a Center of Science and Industry, three historic theatres and a zoo, and hosts a wide range of festivals.

Ohio State University now has more than 500,000 living alumni. Notable former students include pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, businessman Les Wexner, actor Patricia Heaton and writer R. L. Stine.

The university has more than 1,000 student organisations; intercollegiate, club and recreational sports programmes; student media organisations and publications, fraternities and sororities; and three student governments. The university particularly excels in sports and alumni from Ohio State University have gone on to win 100 Olympic medals (46 gold, 35 silver, and 23 bronze).

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join the Business Operations Team and support the launch of a new Nursing Apprenticeship programme. The role The post holder will work within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences to provide high-quality administrative support for apprenticeship programmes and external partnerships, with a particular focus on Nursing Degree Apprenticeships and Transnational Education (TNE) activity. They will be the primary administrative lead and first point of contact for all apprenticeship-related matters across the Faculty, providing a consistent and knowledgeable interface for apprentices, employer partners, academic staff, and central university services. The post holder will take ownership of all operational apprenticeship administration, including maintaining accurate and compliant learner records through the DfE Apprenticeship Service portal and managing ILR data returns. They will oversee student enrolment, progression tracking, funding documentation, and End Point Assessment logistics, ensuring that records, processes, and systems meet regulatory requirements and uphold data quality standards throughout the apprenticeship lifecycle. Working closely with the Business Operations team and wider professional services teams, the post holder will coordinate effective communication across internal and external stakeholders, including NHS employer partners, clinical practice educators, Chief Student Officer (CSO) Office, and central admissions. The role will also include supporting key strategic initiatives, partnership advancement, network development, and providing administrative support for accreditation activities, inspections, faculty events, and committees. About you The successful candidate will need to demonstrate previous experience of working in an administrative role, with strong experience in reporting and data administration. Excellent IT skills are essential, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint, along with the ability and willingness to learn bespoke software systems. The role requires excellent communication skills, adaptability and flexibility, and a strong customer service focus. The post holder will need to be able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner and demonstrate excellent planning and organisational abilities. A proactive approach, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, is essential. Experience of administering and supporting apprenticeship programmes or Transnational Education (TNE) programmes would be desirable, as would experience of the Higher Education sector and awareness of the activities of the University. We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and responsible person, with the ability to work both as an effective team member and independently. The role will be predominantly based on the Manor Park campus but may also require travel to the Stag Hill campus on occasion for Faculty or University-wide events. Hybrid working patterns can be considered, but a minimum of three days is expected on site. Have a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Experience in designing, developing and evaluating solutions for a given problem statement using simulation tools, such as Matlab, Python, etc., and documenting and publishing the works in technical reports or papers. Knowledge of network placement optimization for various topologies, e.g., Erdos-Renyi random network, scale-free, small world, etc, will be advantageous. key Competencies: Understand existing quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, networks and systems.
