The Nursing School of Coimbra was established in 2004 through the merging of nursing schools, Bissaya Barreto and Dr Angelo da Fonseca. There are three campuses that make up the university; Campus A and C are located on the parish of Santo Antonio dos Olivais in Coimbra near to the university hospital. Campus B can be found near the parish of S Martinho do Bispo near the university’s General Hospital and University Centre. Specialising in nursing education, the school offers undergraduate, master’s and postgraduate degrees in addition to professional training courses. Undergraduate students are taught across eight semesters in a range of theoretical, practical, laboratory and clinical classes, as well as seminars and tutorials in small groups. Undergraduate modules include anatomophysiology, clinical microbiology, and developmental psychology. Once students have completed their undergraduate and master’s degrees in nursing, they can choose to go on to a postgraduate degree in areas including occupational nursing, wound treatment and mental health first aid. Students at the school have the opportunity to participate in a range of extracurricular activities and clubs, including Greek club Sigma Theta Tau, which was founded at the school in 2011. Located on Campus C are a range of sporting facilities including a football pitch.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. and M.B.B.S or M.D. degree and be highly motivated in teaching and learning, with demonstrated experience and excellence in the teaching of physiology discipline for medical, nursing, pharmacy, and biomedical sciences undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Applicants should also have strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as a team, and be able to multi-task. Experience in teaching anatomy, biochemistry, or digital education in medicine is a plus. The position offered depends on level of expertise and years of teaching experience – at least 10 years for Senior Lecturer and 3 years for Lecturer. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Lecturer. The appointee will be responsible for teaching, conducting tutorials and demonstrations, supporting curriculum design, and developing teaching materials, etc. He/She will work closely with a team of colleagues dedicated to the development and delivery of innovative pedagogical approaches to improve student learning across several undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The Department of Geography at Durham University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Physical Geography who has expertise in the field of Earth Observation. We seek someone who will complement and extend our current work in one or more of our research clusters (Hazards and Surface Change; Catchments and Rivers; Sea Level, Ice Sheets and Climate), but we particularly welcome applications from candidates who apply Earth observation approaches to outstanding problems in the fields of mountain environments, geohazards, geomorphology and catchments and river science. Research Fellow in Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry

We are looking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher with experience and expertise in synthetic transition metal chemistry, to be based in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton as part of the group of Prof. Gill Reid (G.Reid@soton.ac.uk). This postdoctoral fellowship is part of the EXPRESS (Exploiting Single Source Precursors for the Electrochemical Growth of Functional 1D and 2D Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors) Programme Grant recently announced by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). EXPRESS is a large (£10M) flagship, interdisciplinary research programme over 5-years. It is led jointly by the Universities of Southampton and Warwick, alongside several international and industrial partners, and brings together internationally leading teams from across chemistry, physics and electronic engineering. It aims to deliver a step-change in the understanding and control of electrochemical growth of high-quality mono/few-layer functional transition metal dichalcogenides TMDCs, combining precursor design and synthesis, electrochemistry, solution and surface computation, advanced characterisation and device integration. In addition to the essential disciplinary research skills, candidates should demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for collaborative working, the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, and well-developed organisational skills. In this role your primary focus will be the synthesis, spectroscopic and structural characterisation of a range of new molecular complexes that contain the pre-assembled metal dichalcogenide (ME2) building block that forms the target TMDC. You will work in close collaboration with the electrochemistry experts who will investigate their effectiveness as single source precursors for the electrodeposition range of high quality semi-conducting and semi-metallic TMDCs. You will be required to be flexible and interact effectively with colleagues across the wider EXPRESS consortium to fulfil the scientific goals of the Programme. The position is offered for 24 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for up to 3 further years.
