The Role Do you have a passion for video and live performance? GSA is seeking an experienced Performing Arts Technician (Video & Digital) to join our Technical Team within the Operations and Events Department at the University of Surrey. In this specialist role, you will support the delivery of GSA’s diverse programmes, with a particular focus on theatre productions, technical lectures, and live events. Working collaboratively with academic staff, professional colleagues, and students, you’ll help realise high-quality productions while sharing your expertise to develop the next generation of theatre professionals. You will play a key role in delivering: GSA productions and public performances Specialist technical support for lectures across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes Research events and student society activities Open days, conferences, lectures, and a variety of School and University events Our technical team provides equipment support, mentoring, maintenance, and expert guidance across all activity areas. Delivering an exceptional student experience is at the heart of everything we do About You You’ll bring professional experience in a video department within live performance, theatre, events, or a related field, ideally with some experience in a conservatoire or higher-education environment. We are looking for someone who has: Strong knowledge of current practices and techniques in professional theatre and live entertainment Excellent administrative, organisational, pastoral, and interpersonal skills The ability to supervise, mentor, and support students and freelance staff Confidence managing equipment, budgets, and maintenance processes Experience of video projection and mapping within live theatre or performance contexts would be advantageous. Fixed term for 30 months School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University in partnership with A-SAFE Ltd Bio-Composite Materials Engineer (KTP Associate) 30-month fixed-term, in-person post based primarily at A-SAFE HQ, Elland, West Yorkshire, with regular liaison with LJMU (Liverpool). Starting salary - £38,000 per annum Plus a £4,000 travel and personal development budget, as well as management and leadership training provided as part of the KTP. This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between LJMU and A-SAFE Ltd aims to develop a world-first structural bio-composite for use in impact-resistant safety barrier systems. The associate will lead the technical development of bio-composite materials, ensuring their suitability for industrial use through experimental validation, modelling, and manufacturing integration. This is a unique opportunity to lead impactful R&D in sustainable engineering within a commercial setting, while receiving academic and professional development support.. Job role includes: Lead research into natural fibre-reinforced bio-resins and develop composite formulations Carry out physical testing, analysis, and validation of bio-composite structures Develop and validate material models and performance predictions using simulation tools Integrate materials into injection moulding and extrusion processes through prototyping Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across R&D, production, and academic partners We are looking to appoint a graduate to run this project who satisfies the following essential criteria: Degree (minimum 2:1) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage a technically complex project.
