Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology is located in Arusha in northern Tanzania. It belongs to a network of institutions aiming to fulfil Nelson Mandela’s wish to "develop the next generation of African scientists and engineers with a view to impacting professionally on the continent’s development through the application of science, engineering, technology and innovation". Students can study across schools of life sciences, bio-engineering, computer and communications science and engineering, material, energy, water and environmental science, Earth sciences and engineering, and business studies and humanities. Since 2020 it has run a free online farmer-led course on irrigation. All courses are offered in Swahili. It hosts the C-Code Centre for Competence in Digital Education as a digital training hub for East Africa. In May 2024 it launched Nelson Mandela 98.9FM radio station.

Public Health Discipline Group The Flinders Public Health Discipline Group is situated within the College of Medicine and Public Health. We aim to promote healthy communities and healthy environments and reduce health inequities, particularly through enhancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. We do so through our educational programmes, research, and engagement with communities and key public health stakeholders. About the Senior Lecturer Role (Level C) As a Senior Lecturer in Public Health or Health Economics, you will play a pivotal role within the College of Medicine and Public Health, contributing to high‑quality teaching, research, and industry engagement. Working within a diverse and collaborative discipline group, you will lead and deliver innovative learning experiences, drive impactful research aligned with the College’s strategic priorities, and foster strong partnerships that enhance outcomes for students, the University, and the broader community. Description The galaxy formation group is looking to appoint an Associate Research Scientist to work on the following topics: Galaxy formation and cosmology ΛCDM paradigm and alternative dark matter theories, large-scale structure, filaments and halos Galaxy dynamics and Galactic archaeology Globular cluster dynamics and evolution Black hole dynamics within galaxies We are looking for a candidate able to use the following methods: N -body controlled and cosmological simulations, Orbital integration methods, Forward modeling of simulated data and analysis of synthetic datasets, Exploitation of data from observational surveys We expect successful applicants to work in collaboration with the other postdocs in the galaxy formation group and with graduate students. The successful candidate fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through NYUAD. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years with a likely extension to a total of three years. The preferred starting date is Fall of 2026.
