This position provides accurate and timely advice to stakeholders on a wide range of research management matters, including grant applications, post-award processes, and research data administration. Working closely with the Research Services team, the officer assists in preparing research proposals, conducting compliance checks, managing budgets, and coordinating peer review processes. The role also involves maintaining research management systems and websites, supporting internal funding processes, and ensuring all documentation complies with relevant ANU and external policies and guidelines. Strong administrative, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. This position is integral to the smooth and efficient operation of the Research Services team and contributes to the University’s broader research strategy. The Person The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree or possess an equivalent combination of experience and training in administrative support within a complex organisation, with a genuine interest in research management. They will demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. Clear and confident communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential, along with the ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities independently or as part of a collaborative team. It investigates practices, cultures, social formations and design with ethnographic methods, while incorporating insights from the design field about how the material and the conceptual aspects of social life are entangled. The key foci for design anthropology at Aalto are the processes of imagining, producing and making design outcomes, and the systems of signification that inform design and are reproduced by design. It can explore and develop different framings and styles of design, from DIY or community-based design to the high-tech and commercialized fields of design. An anthropological approach is significant for design in general and for the Department of Design at Aalto University in particular. Description The Robot Learning & Control Lab (REAL Lab) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research in robot intelligence, machine learning, and AI-driven manipulation. This position offers the opportunity to work on real-world robotic systems and develop novel algorithms at the intersection of robot learning, control, and AI for physical systems. The postdoc will work on projects focusing on one or more of the following: Robot Learning & Autonomy – Developing algorithms that allow robots to learn (via exploration or imitation) from interaction, adapt to new tasks, and generalize across environments. Dexterous Manipulation – Advancing robotic grasping, in-hand manipulation, and adaptable object handling in complex real-world scenarios, including those involving deformable objects and uncertain conditions.. Semantic Navigation & Mapping – Designing solutions for robot navigation, for Mobile Manipulators, that integrate environmental semantics and spatial reasoning. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Robotics, Control Engineering, Machine Learning, AI, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong focus on robot manipulation learning & control, and differential geometry is a plus.
