Primary teaching duties for the second position will also include courses in the department's introductory sequence (General Chemistry, Methods of Chemical Analysis) and the upper-level Instrumental Analysis course. In addition, the opportunity exists to participate in the university's First Year Seminar program and develop special topics courses in the candidates' areas of expertise. The successful candidates are also expected to develop research programs in biological chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or analytical chemistry that have significant undergraduate student involvement. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry is required, and college-level teaching experience and/or postdoctoral research experience is strongly preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates who have research interests in biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or analytical chromatography techniques (HPLC, GC/MS). Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. About the Role The Senior Lecturer in Remote Medicine will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning within the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP). This position focuses on designing and implementing remote health experiences, supervising medical students in primary care settings, and fostering innovative teaching practices. Drawing on extensive clinical expertise, the role also involves mentoring clinical supervisors, developing curricula, and building partnerships to enhance student success and graduate employability. Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of Remote Medicine teaching across NTMP, including clinical skills training and simulation. Supervise and assess Year 3 and 4 medical students and electives during extended remote placements. Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and continuous quality improvement of courses. Build and maintain partnerships with health services and stakeholders to support work-integrated learning and remote health initiatives. About You You are an experienced medical educator with a passion for remote health and a commitment to innovative teaching. You bring clinical expertise, strong leadership in curriculum development, and the ability to mentor students and supervisors. Your collaborative approach and understanding of rural and Aboriginal health contexts will help shape the next generation of doctors. Doctorate in a relevant field (or equivalent clinical standing) and current AHPRA registration. Proven excellence in tertiary-level teaching, including clinical and simulation settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging diverse communities. Ability to innovate in curriculum design and leverage technology for enhanced learning. The King’s Motor Neuron Disease Care and Research Centre, in the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience is an international multi-award-winning centre for clinical care and research into motor neuron diseases, focussing on understanding the condition, developing new treatments and testing the treatments in clinical trials.
