The Department of Criminal Law is a department of the MU Faculty of Law that provides teaching and research in the fields of criminal law, criminalistics and criminology. Main activities: responsibility for the educational and scientific activities of the department and the achievement of the required outputs and results, personnel management of the department (motivation, evaluation, and career growth of employees), responsibility for the management of entrusted funds, close cooperation with the faculty management, own teaching (including the preparation of study and teaching materials), scientific research and publishing activities. Qualifications and other requirements (mandatory): Master's degree in law, academic or scientific title of professor or associate professor, at least 10 years of experience in the field, active teaching and scientific activity and readiness to guarantee the professional subjects taught at the department, personal and professional prerequisites for leading the department, ability to teach and publish in Czech and English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage, fulfilment of the requirements under Act No. 451/1991 Coll. as amended; persons born after 1 December 1971 are not required to provide proof of this, moral integrity, information on other employment relationships of the employee within the meaning of Section 70 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended. Description We are inviting applications for a full-time Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Political Science, Economics or a related discipline. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Giuliana Pardelli and Jeffrey Jensen. The collaborative research will be in the field of political economy, with an emphasis on projects related to fiscal and institutional development. The ideal candidate will possess advanced methodological skills, including experience managing and analyzing large, complex datasets, as well as familiarity with machine learning workflows, natural language processing (NLP), and text-as-data methods. We are especially interested in applicants who demonstrate a strong substantive interest in using empirical tools to study political institutions, fiscal systems, and long-run development. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. You would join a group of over 20 post-doctoral fellows and 70 faculty in the Division of Social Science.
