Work that matters The Technical Assistant (Casual) provides operational and technical support to ensure the effective day-to-day functioning of simulation teaching and learning environments within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Operating under general supervision and established procedures, the role contributes to the preparation, maintenance and pack-down of simulation facilities, equipment and learning resources. The position supports the delivery of high-quality teaching activities through the application of technical skills, attention to detail and a strong service orientation. Core Responsibilities: Operational Support for Teaching Activities Simulation Resource Preparation Equipment and Technology Support Stores and Inventory Control Team Contribution and Service Delivery Compliant with Health and Safety guidelines Experience: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a structured, service-oriented team environment. Proven capacity to complete operational tasks accurately and within required timeframes. Demonstrated technical aptitude and confidence operating equipment and associated technologies. Sound problem-solving skills within established procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Eligibility Requirements: Completion of: A relevant trades certificate or Certificate III; or Year 12 or Certificate II with relevant work experience; or An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Qualities Knowledge of clinical equipment and healthcare consumables. Experience supporting simulation-based education or similar technical environments. Experience in roles requiring manual dexterity and technical precision. Special Requirements Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Capacity to undertake manual handling and physically active duties as required. The site is leased from the MOD and all range operations are carried out under the authority of Defence Training Estates Salisbury Plain DTE(SP). The site carries out a large range of tasks primarily based around the testing and evaluation of explosives, ordnance and munitions for defence and commercial customers. The site also carries out research and supports the research projects of Cranfield University students. About the Role As a Senior Trials Conducting Officer (STCO) you will lead the planning, delivery and reporting of complex explosives, ordnance and munitions trials for defence and commercial customers. You will be responsible for ensuring trials are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and COTEC procedures, while producing high-quality technical reports and delivering effective customer solutions. As a senior technical specialist, you will provide guidance to colleagues, deputise for the Operations Manager when required, contribute to training activities, and support quality and business development initiatives. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects and adapt to changing operational requirements. About You You will have a recognised military qualification in ammunition and explosives, or equivalent relevant technical experience, with significant demonstrable experience in the firing, testing and evaluation of explosives, ordnance and munitions across a range of environments. You will have proven experience of managing and supervising technical activities, analysing trial data and producing detailed technical reports. You will have an in-depth understanding of ammunition systems, range procedures and health and safety requirements, with the ability to operate effectively in a safety-critical environment. You will demonstrate strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to lead complex trials, manage competing requirements and work collaboratively with customers, colleagues and stakeholders. A degree in a relevant science subject, membership of a relevant professional body, and experience working with instrumentation, research facilities or industrial partners would be desirable. Description The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies that tackle unique computational problems in healthcare applications. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team and make significant contributions to the field. The researcher is expected to have (i) strong machine learning skills to improve model performance and robustness, and (ii) exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. Methodologies of interest include: multi-modal learning, foundation models, including large language models, agentic AI, multi-agent AI systems, transfer learning, self-supervised learning, and federated learning. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be primarily based at NYU Abu Dhabi. The researcher will report directly to Dr. Farah Shamout and work in close collaboration with other researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate research assistants. The researcher will engage with our regular collaborators across the NYU campuses and local medical institutions in the UAE. Key Responsibilities Research Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda; Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on ML methodology development for healthcare; Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA); Design and implement experiments to compare proposed work with SOTA baselines; Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences; Communicate and present research findings at international academic gatherings; Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility; Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets; Assist the supervisor in the preparation of grant applications (as appropriate); And collaborate with scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi.
