Position Description The Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, together with the McCall MacBain Kinesiology and Healthspan Institute, invites applications for the McCall MacBain Chair in Evidence-Informed Health Policy. This is an appointment anchored in the Faculty of Health Sciences with cross appointment to the Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Science. We seek a leader in the translation of evidence into policy, prevention and rehabilitation standards, and population-level health strategies. The Chair's program is expected to integrate evidence synthesis, implementation science, and policy evaluation to accelerate the adoption of effective lifestyle-based and other interventions across health systems, and to inform local, national, and global decision-making through partnerships with professional organizations, public health agencies, governments, and international organizations. The successful candidate will build and lead an internationally recognized, externally funded research program, supervise and mentor trainees, and contribute to teaching. The Chair will draw on McMaster's exceptional evidence ecosystem, including the McMaster Health Forum, a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Evidence-Informed Policy, and the Evidence Synthesis Support Institute (ESSI), a key player in the Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure Collaborative policy-scale, AI-enabled living evidence syntheses program, to build on the University's global leadership in evidence synthesis, guideline development, and evidence-informed policymaking. This Chair is one of four McCall MacBain Chairs in Healthy Living established through a transformational $50-million endowed gift from the McCall MacBain Foundation, the largest gift ever made to a kinesiology department in Canadian university history. The gift establishes the McCall MacBain Kinesiology and Healthspan Institute, a joint initiative of the Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Science and the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The endowed funding will be used to cover the salary and benefits for the position with any remaining funds available to support research and scholarly activities associated with the Chair, including travel, and graduate student support. The Chair will also be eligible to apply for research funds that will be available through the McCall MacBain Kinesiology and Healthspan Institute. This is a Chair appointment open to exceptional candidates at all ranks. Applications are welcome from scholars at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The rank of appointment and the starting salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, record, and qualifications. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027.
