We seek early-career scholars whose design research engages with emerging topics and methods within and adjacent to the field of landscape architecture, with particular focus in areas of applied ecology, such as conservation biology and restoration ecology, or in areas of advanced fabrication, landscape engineering, and critical approaches to data and representation. Appointments will be made on a two-year basis with the possibility of renewal or advancement toward tenure-track positions in the Division as and when available. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture or closely allied field. They shoud demonstrate an emerging record of innovative design research through their scholarship and/or creative practice as evidenced by peer review and other forms of recognition. Preference will be given to those who have experience in teaching and practicing design in a multidisciplinary context. Responsibilities: Research Professoriate staff are expected to pursue an independent research and design agenda in line with their area of specialization. Apppointees will be expected to teach, with duties that may include core and elective seminars and co-teaching duties in design studio within our Bachelor and Masters programs in landscape architecture. Broadly, the successful candidate will help build and sustain our innovation in design research and other scholarly initiatives within the Division. The Role / Te Mahi We are seeking an outstanding academic to join us as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Data Science/AI Governance and Leadership. This is a full-time, permanent position at the University of Otago’s Queenstown campus. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service at our emerging Queenstown campus. Teaching will largely be focused at postgraduate level, alongside building an active research programme. The area of specialisation will be in data science and AI governance, as well as related areas, and will involve significant curriculum development.
