Mizoram University was founded in 2001 under the Indian Government’s University Grants Commission. However its history can be traced back to 1973 when its predecessor, North-Eastern Hill University, was established. The campus is situated among lush greenery and scenic hills and is surrounded by tropical forests. It contains a protected forested water catchment reserve and a small biodiversity park. The campus is also rich with diverse animal species including 23 species of snakes and about 50 species of birds. The university is divided into nine schools, namely earth sciences and natural resources management, economics, management and information sciences, education and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, fine arts, planning and architecture, and medical and paramedical sciences. Between them the schools have 33 departments offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate courses. The university publishes an annual magazine, Lunglohtui, as well as a monthly newsletter called Silhouette. A number of research journals are also published throughout the academic year such as the Science and Technology Journal, Geographic Journal, and Journal of Literature and Cultural Studies. The university is located in Aizawl, the capital of the state of Mizoram. The state is located in northeastern India and shares a border with Bangladesh and Myanmar. Mizoram can be translated as "land of the Mizos" because its name is derived from "Mizo", which refers to the native inhabitants and "Ram’" which means "land". Mizoram’s current population consists almost entirely of Mizo people, among which are the Kuki, Pawi and Lakher.

Responsibilities of the Position The Postdoctoral researcher is intended to support the soil spectroscopy research activities and digital soil mapping with specific responsibilities as presented below:  Conduct research on the development and application of spectroscopy methods such as near infrared and FTIR as alternatives to traditional methods of soil characterization, monitoring and management, Organization of field campaigns, data collection and lab work, Spectral data analysis, data processing, and model development, ‘R’, Python programming / package development, Co-supervise PhD and undergraduate students. Be engaged in technology transfer. Criteria of the candidate: Qualified applicants should have the following skills: Ph.D. in soil spectroscopy / Chemometrics/ analytical chemistry or related field. The lecturer will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality, innovative teaching through lectures, tutorials, clinical placements, and contemporary digital strategies. This includes creating course materials, coordinating placements, and conducting assessments. The role also requires ongoing clinical or community-based practice to maintain current skills and knowledge. The role will actively contribute to enhancing teaching and learning through scholarship and may also teach across other programs within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences or other university Colleges. Building and strengthening partnerships with external stakeholders to improve teaching, learning, or research outcomes is also a vital aspect of the role. In addition, the incumbent will provide informal leadership by supporting academic staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring high standards aligned with university policies and practices. This cutting-edge postdoctoral research opportunity in Morocco will spearhead groundbreaking research at the intersection of isotopes, ecohydrology, and modeling mainly in the continuum water-soil-plant-atmosphere.
