We create, share and apply scientific knowledge to improve health by building new technology for cancer imaging and targeted radiation therapy. We engage with industry, hospitals, international collaborators and universities to forge relationships that help take our projects from lab bench to patient bedside. Image X is a part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (level A Step 6) to work on a research project harnessing the power of artificial-intelligence (AI) to improve radiation therapy treatment for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. In this project you will build new targeting technologies based on AI and x-ray imaging that solve the challenges of complex cardiac motion during radiation therapy. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of advanced non-invasive cardiac mapping approaches, involving multi-signal acquisition, signal processing and inverse modelling. The role is based at the Image X Institute and will be led by Dr Chandrima Sengupta. You will benefit from a strong mentoring environment; lead and be part of high impact research. You will be based at South Eveleigh (formerly the Australian Technology Park) and spend time at our partner hospitals. Your key responsibilities will be: Advance the science and clinical practice of imaging, cardiac mapping and targeted radiation therapy Create, develop and experimentally and clinically implement mechanistic and AI based algorithms Support the acquisition and analysis of clinical data, and imaging, software and equipment infrastructure contribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/ or funding to deliver research impact develop national and international research collaborations disseminate research findings. About you : An awarded or near completed Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Cardiac Electrophysiology or Engineering) demonstrated experience or knowledge one or more of the following: software and mathematical algorithm development, especially in artificial intelligence working with X-ray equipment, linear accelerators, MRI scanners, PET, or other scientific/medical devices working with electrophysiology data working with a variety of experts in different fields (e.g., radiation oncologists, cardiologists, radiation therapists, physicists, engineers, clinicians etc). a publication track record that places emphasis on quality publications and/or experience with clinical trial protocol development. demonstrated scientific creativity and innovation/discovery outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment. We are now looking for a postdoctoral researcher to lead the development of an advanced and correlative characterization workflow for lithium deposition and solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) analysis in lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction reaction (LiNRR) systems for green ammonia synthesis at Aalto University’s Department of Applied Physics. In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact by establishing reliable, multimodal methods that connect interphase chemistry and morphology to electrochemical performance, stability, and degradation mechanisms. Join us in shaping the future of advanced electrochemical interface science! LiNRR is a highly dynamic electrochemical process where Li plating/stripping, SEI formation, electrolyte/proton-source reactions. These co-evolve and directly influence ammonia formation and energy efficiency. This position targets the core bottleneck: turning complex, sensitive interphases into measurable, interpretable mechanisms through operando and in-situ observation and correlative analysis. Alternative mediated systems other than lithium will also be investigated. Your work will also build transferable capability for other lithium and battery-relevant interfacial processes. This postdoctoral position is funded through a recent M-Era.Net project “Ammonia Production via Electrochemical Reduction of Nitrogen” and the project partners also includes SINTEF, Solvenian National Institute of Chemistry, as well as industrial partners - NitroVolt and NanoScientifica. Your role and goals Build a correlative characterization and analysis workflow for Li deposition and SEI evolution, integrating structural and chemical information at various length- and timescales. Perform operando and post-mortem characterization to obtain mechanistic understanding of Li deposition and SEI evolution. A toolkit of morphological, strucutral and chemical analysis techniques will be used, including: cryo-FIB/SEM, cryo-TEM, in-situ and liquid-cell TEM, EC-AFM, XCT, SAXS, XAS, XRS, XPS, etc. Correlate materials characterization results with electrochemical kinetics analysis and computational insights for mechanistic interpretation of LiNRR and beyond-Li NRR. Collaborate with the project partners and support their research activities in this project Support other electrochemical studies (e.g., batteries) within the group Your network and team Aalto University established a characterization platform for visualization and analysis of the SEI layer by integrating advanced ex situ and in situ/operando characterization techniques to unveil interfacial reactions and visualize lithium metal deposition and SEI evolution You will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment within the Advanced Energy Solutions area of Aalto University. The Department of Geography at Durham University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Physical Geography who has expertise in the field of Earth Observation. This will give you time to carry out internationally excellent research, informing your teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We support academics with a generous travel allowance and you will be able to apply to the Department's Research Development Fund for additional funding to develop your research. We regularly host visiting academics and research students from around the world. The department benefits from access to diverse PhD funding sources including the IAPETUS NERC Doctoral Training Partnership. We have a suite of world-class laboratories and field equipment for research and teaching supported by an experienced team of technicians.
