Mewar International University was the first Indian university to establish a campus in Africa, and is located at the border of the Nigerian states of Abuja and Nasarawa. The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Integrated Water Management. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach graduate courses in Water Technology, Water Reuse and Water Management (WTE) and undergraduate courses in the program Civil Engineering and Construction Management (BCE). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules: MODULE 1: River Basin Management (WTE, 6 ECTS) MODULE 2: Urban Water Management (BCE, 6 ECTS) MODULE 3: Interdisciplinary Project in the specialization River Management (WTE, 6 ECTS) MODULE 4: Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants (WTE, 6 ECTS) The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring Ph.D. students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of Integrated Water Management in urban, suburban and rural areas. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Master Program in Water Technology, Water Reuse and Water Management by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Technical University of Darmstadt. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Integrated Water Management or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on Integrated Water Management or other areas closely related to it Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research Experience in industry is of advantage Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. Your personal sphere of influence: As a prae-doc at this chair, you will receive comprehensive training in criminal law (and, if desired, in related areas of law), including practical legal practice. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. To provide technical and operational leadership in the development, execution, and translation of sustainable geomaterials for land reclamation under an industry-collaborative research programme, working under the strategic direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure successful delivery from laboratory research to pilot and field implementation. Key responsibilities include: Support the PI in the planning, execution, and delivery of the research project, including leading day-to-day technical activities to ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved within timeline and budget. Provide technical leadership in the development of carbonation-engineered geomaterials (e.g. demolition fines, incineration bottom ash) for reclamation applications, aligned with the research direction set by the PI. Design and oversee experimental programmes, including laboratory testing, pilot-scale trials, and field validation, ensuring technical rigour and relevance to industry application. Translate research findings into engineering solutions, including material specifications, performance frameworks, and implementation methodologies suitable for industry adoption. Lead the scale-up of laboratory processes (e.g. aqueous carbonation) to prototype and pilot systems, including system design, optimisation, and operational considerations. Supervise and mentor research staff (RFs, REs, RAs), including task allocation, technical guidance, and monitoring of progress to ensure effective team delivery. Coordinate with industry partners and vendors on technical matters, including trials, material supply, equipment development, and site implementation. Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to material variability, process scalability, and environmental compliance. Oversee environmental performance assessment, including leachate testing and alignment with regulatory requirements for reclamation use. Prepare and contribute to technical reports, journal publications, and presentations for stakeholders, funding agencies, and dissemination. Support the PI in identifying new research opportunities, contributing to proposal development, and strengthening industry engagement. Co-supervise undergraduate, Industrial Master and Doctoral students in alignment with project objectives. Ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, including maintaining risk assessments and safe laboratory and field practices. Job Requirements PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of relevant industry or research experience; or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 15 years of relevant industry or research experience. Demonstrated experience in leading technical components of research or engineering projects and supervising junior staff. Experience in experimental programme design, laboratory and/or field testing, and data-driven engineering evaluation. Familiarity with material treatment or processing methods (e.g. stabilisation, carbonation, or related technologies) will be advantageous. Experience in industry collaboration, pilot-scale implementation, or technology translation will be advantageous. Experience in reclamation or ground improvement will be advantageous. Knowledge of environmental assessment and leachate testing for construction materials will be an advantage.
