Mbarara University of Science and Technology is a public university in Uganda, located in Mbarara in the western region of the country. It was established in 1989 to strengthen scientific education and address national needs in science and technology.
It has two main campuses, the Mbarara Campus in the city centre and the larger Kihumuro Campus located several kilometres outside the city.
The university has over 7,000 students and more than 1,000 staff members. It hosts faculties in medicine, science, applied sciences and technology, computing and informatics, business and management sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.
It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, computer science, information technology, engineering, business administration and biomedical sciences.
It is closely linked with Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, which serves as a teaching hospital supporting clinical training and medical research.

At SIT, Robotics and Embodied AI faculty will have the opportunity to shape and lead applied research in a unique real-world environment. Located within Punggol Digital District (PDD), SIT’s purpose-built campus serves as a living lab for precinct-scale robotics test-bedding, where faculty can work with government and industry partners to develop, validate and deploy next-generation robotic systems safely and at scale. Candidates will contribute to industry-relevant research in embodied AI, simulation and digital twins, cybersecurity, robot operations and related areas, with a strong emphasis on translation into real-world applications. Through collaborations with leading robot companies and end-users, faculty will help solve practical deployment challenges, build shared digital infrastructure, and train the next generation of robotics talent for Singapore’s future economy. Responsibilities: Lead and contribute to applied research projects with industry partners and government agencies. Develop and teach Robotics and Embodied AI courses within the cluster’s programmes and across relevant interdisciplinary modules. Supervise Industry Doctorate/Masters and capstone projects in collaboration with domain faculty and industry partners. Contribute to SIT’s continuing education offerings. Serve as embodied AI mentor for existing SIT domain faculty through joint projects and co-supervision mechanisms. Qualifications: PhD in Robotics, Mechanical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant domain with demonstrated embodied AI research experience. Equivalent industry experience may also be considered. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position is situated within the Centre for Immersification, dedicated to applied research in immersive technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Research staff at the Centre have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets relevant to industry demands while working on innovative projects within the university. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of an advanced content moderation framework for immersive 3D virtual environments, such as Roblox and Minecraft. The engineer will play a key role in building a parallelized, agent-driven exploration system and integrating a multimodal detection pipeline, ensuring real-time performance, scalability, and deployment readiness in alignment with the project’s research objectives. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of faculty members, engineers, and industry partners, including renowned researchers at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at NTU. Technical skills, natural curiosity, versatility, and enthusiasm are highly desired traits that will enable success in this fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Collaborate with the PI, Co-PIs and NTU team to design and develop a robust and scalable software system for autonomous agents navigating immersive 3D virtual environments (e.g., Roblox, Minecraft). Implement a parallelized agent-driven framework where multiple LLM-powered agents operate concurrently to explore user-generated worlds and trigger diverse contextual scenarios. Develop a unified multimodal detection pipeline that integrates video, audio, and text leveraging fine-tuned Vision-Language Models (VLMs) from WP3, supporting zero-shot reasoning and scene-graph inference. Ensure the system is deployment-ready by supporting benchmarking of inference speed, compute efficiency, and scalability with concurrent agents. Enable real-time adaptive learning via human-in-the-loop feedback and reinforcement learning mechanisms in collaboration with other work packages. Maintain high software engineering standards through rigorous testing, version control, clear documentation, and continuous improvement of development infrastructure (e.g., CI/CD, Docker, cloud-based services). Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Responsibilities Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing software systems involving multi-agent frameworks. Familiarity with immersive platform development (e.g., Roblox, Minecraft), including scripting (Lua/Java), agent behavior modeling, event handling, and API-based integration with external AI systems. Experience with distributed systems, reinforcement learning, or simulation environments (e.g., Unity3D, OpenAI Gym, WebGL) is advantageous.
