The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is an independent, coeducational, private research university based in the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Established in 1861, MIT aims to ‘further knowledge and prepare students in science, technology and other fields of study that will best benefit the nation and the world today’. Its motto is Mens et Manus, which translates as “Mind and Hand”.
The university lays claim to 85 Nobel Laureates, 58 National Medal of Science winners, 29 National Medal of Technology and Innovation winners and 45 MacArthur Fellows. Among its impressive alumni is Kofi Annan, former secretary-general of the United Nations.
Scientific discoveries and technological advances accredited to MIT include the first chemical synthesis of penicillin, the development of radar, the discovery of quarks, and the invention of magnetic core memory, which enabled the development of digital computers.
MIT is currently organised into five different schools: architecture and planning, engineering, humanities, arts and social sciences, management and science.
It is home to around 1,000 faculty members and over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. MIT’s current areas of research include digital learning, sustainable energy, Big Data, human health and much more.
In addition to its emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship, MIT also boasts a diverse and vibrant campus environment with a wide array of student groups. The campus is arranged over 168 acres within Cambridge, and features 18 student residences, 26 acres of playing fields, 20 gardens and green-space areas, as well as over 100 public works of art.
MIT estimates that all its living alumni have between them launched more than 30,000 active companies, created 4.6 million jobs and generated roughly $1.9 trillion in annual revenue.

Essential 8 or more years of industry and/or applied academia experience and knowledge in enhancing environmental sustainability through sustainability management. Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of sustainability measurement and management, such as life cycle analysis, circular economy, sustainability road mapping (e.g., decarbonisation for net-zero transition), sustainability change management, and organisational sustainability strategy development. This position is situated within the Centre for Immersification, dedicated to applied research in immersive technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Research staff at the Centre have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets relevant to industry demands while working on innovative projects within the university. The research team is seeking a Research Fellow or Research Engineer with strong expertise in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and social science methodologies to lead the user research and policy development, as part of an interdisciplinary team investigating harmful user-generated content in virtual worlds as part of a national research initiative on Online Trust and Safety. The primary responsibility of this role is to investigate users’ experiences with harmful content in these virtual environments, review existing reporting guidelines on these platforms, and evaluate users’ responses to alternative mechanisms. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of faculty members, engineers, and industry partners, including labs at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at NTU. Technical skills, natural curiosity, versatility, and enthusiasm are highly desired traits that will enable success in this fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Conduct a comprehensive review of literature, existing safety policies, community standards, and moderation tools currently used in online social gaming platforms Design and execute surveys and interviews to collect data (including participant recruitment) to address the relevant research questions. Perform statistical analysis on survey/experimental data, and Conduct thematic analysis on interview transcripts and open-ended survey responses. Centre for English Language Education (CELE) Since the development of the Nottingham Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high-quality English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. With over 85 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting students on UNNC Year 1 modules, pre-sessionals, summer schools and in-sessional language and academic skills support programmes. We are seeking an experienced manager and curriculum specialist to join our team as a Senior Course Tutor in English for Academic Purposes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in designing academic English curricula, a proven track record of leading collaborative and innovative educational modules, and exceptional skills in managing and inspiring a diverse team of teaching professionals. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success of our EAP programmes and supporting students in achieving their academic goals. Reporting to the Director of CELE and relevant Deputy Director, the Senior Course Tutor in English for Academic Purposes will be responsible for the management of staff and EAP modules. The Senior Tutor would typically have module convener responsibility for one or more taught modules, and as such, will be actively involved in issues around curriculum design, delivery, assessment and review. The Senior Tutor may also have a leadership role in knowledge exchange provision and the organisation and delivery of summer activities. They would ideally have a proven track record of effective project management in one or more of these areas. The successful candidate will also directly line manage teams of up to 10 individual academic staff and be responsible for carrying out classroom observations of teaching, as well as conducting annual staff performance reviews. Delivery of teaching on CELE modules will also be required. Your key responsibilities include: Taking a lead role in the expansion and management of area of specialism in English for Academic Purposes programmes of study. Taking overall leadership on key projects as required. Taking a module convenor role where required on CELE programmes.
