Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, often referred to as LHU, is a private vocational university of science and technology. It is located in Guishan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. LHU traces its history back to 1967 when entrepreneurs Mr. Sun Fa-Min, and Mrs. Sun decided to establish a school. The university offers wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in different disciplines ranging from electronics, business, mechanic, engineering, finance, philology, and international business to multi-media, gaming science, tourism and computer science. Lunghwa University of Science and Technology has a well-built infrastructure including an indoor gymnasium, a table tennis room, an aerobics room, a physical fitness centre, an outdoor 200-metre track and field ground, basketball courts, two PU basketball courts, health centre, restaurant, convenience stores, and a unique five-star student dormitory called “Han-Qin" Hall. The university has forged academic partnerships with leading universities across the globe. The Research Fellow will be expected to work collegially, leading by example to develop and maintain effective, productive and beneficial workplace relationships within the all-academic and professional School and College staff, students and honorary appointees, as well as with industry stakeholders. This position will also have a mentoring role for students and will engage in collegial and productive collaborations with local, national and where possible, international colleagues. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Excellent communication skills in English. The Role and the Department The role supports the IS Senior Manager (Integrations) to deliver effective integration solutions to the University and is part of the wider Information Services (IS) collection of teams, which underpins the delivery of customer focused information systems and services. Specifically, the post holder will: Support the design and implementation of software integration solutions across the university's enterprise applications, evaluating existing components or systems to determine integration requirements and ensuring final solutions meet organisational architecture principals.Development of test cases and new methods to accelerate the integration task, as well as documenting integration processes for different stakeholders.Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the university's integration environments.Development and implementation of automation scripts, for operational and analytical improvements.Deploy software builds and integration, developing and testing automation scripts using automation and troubleshooting in cases of failure.Work closely with Professional Support and Academic departments to support and identify requirements or improvements for integration. The Computing and Information Services (CIS) has an annual operational budget in excess of £27m, including multi-million pound programmes of change within year, and approximately 172 staff. The Senior Leadership Team report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the following portfolios: Strategy and Change; Technical Services; Information Services, and; Cyber Security. CIS work with departments across the university to provide academic, teaching and administrative services that underpin the day-to-day activities of the whole organisation. Details of the Digital Strategy and ongoing work can be found at CIS is a friendly, but demanding department, where much is expected and can be achieved by competent, self-motivated individuals who are demonstrable in their team work ability. The department works in a hybrid capacity, depending on the job role. Information Services (IS) is responsible for the provision of a wide range of end-user and customer facing technology services, ranging from: student record management; database administration, web and app,curriculum & learning, IWMS, internet and intranet provision; integration; AI; identity and access management, and; other immersive technology experiences.
