The Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in the following disciplines: Bioinformatics Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery Big Data Analysis Established in 2002, ICMS is an academic centre of excellence in Chinese medicine as well as biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences in the region. It hosts the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, as well as Macau Centre for R&D in Chinese Medicine, UM Centre for Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences, UM Macau Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Over the past decade, the Institute has established an international reputation in conducting high-quality research with special emphasis on Chinese medicine quality research, drug discovery and development, immunopharmacology, systems pharmacology, molecular pharmaceutics and regulatory sciences. It has secured outstanding funding support from both national and regional governments and built long-term strategic collaborations with top academic organizations around the world. Qualifications (1) PhD/MD degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Biomedicine or related disciplines, postdoctoral research experience from globally renowned universities; (2) A distinguished track record of internationally-recognized research publications; (3) both wet lab and dry lab proficiency, or a strong commitment to integrated experimental–computational research and hands on experience working in a biological laboratory, ideally involving immunological, inflammatory, or disease model systems, educational or research background in immunology, inflammation, or related fields. Priority consideration will be given to those with sustained high-quality research/teaching experiences in data science, pharmaceutical science, Chinese medicinal science, or bioinformatics. For Bioinformatics, applicant should have ability to analyze high‑dimensional biological data (e.g., transcriptomics, immunoprofiling, single‑cell data), preferably applied to immunology, inflammation, cancer immunotherapy, infectious diseases, mucosal immunity, or autoimmune/allergic disorders; and experience linking computational findings with experimental validation in the laboratory. For Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery, applicant should possess expertise in AI/ML methods applied to drug target identification, molecular design, or mechanism‑of‑action discovery, preferably with applications in immunomodulatory drugs, cancer immunotherapeutics, anti‑inflammatory agents, or anti‑infective compounds; and capacity to validate computational predictions through biological experiments. For Big Data Analysis, applicant should have experience in integrating omics data, pharmacological databases, knowledge frameworks for traditional or natural products, preferably with interest in immune‑regulating compounds or inflammatory disease therapeutics, and ability to test computational predictions experimentally in a biological lab setting. The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in Spring 2027. Remuneration A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Do you want to work in Ireland on an exciting European Research Council funded project analysing a lost musical corpus recovered from faded and damaged manuscript fragments? For this postdoctoral position, we seek a candidate to conduct analysis of the music corpus recovered, transcribed, and edited within the scope of this project. The candidate’s background can be either in in traditional music analysis (with a PhD in musicology, music analysis or music theory) and/or in computational musicology, digital humanities, computer science, artificial intelligence, or mathematics/statistics, with a PhD in one of these fields or a closely related field, and interested in applying this skillset to the analysis of music data. The place of work is Maynooth University, Ireland: remote work from another country cannot be facilitated. The BROKENSONG project examines singing in medieval Britain and Ireland during a transformative period of western music history, c. 1150-1350. The project team is digitally encoding approximately 700 music compositions copied on over 120 fragmentary music manuscripts. The project reconstructs lost vibrant musical cultures and communities. A key responsibility of this role is strategically guiding and advising Disciplines and Schools to ensure effective collaboration and partnership across the University and to accelerate and enhance priority initiatives.
