About EPrints Services As a result of our continued success, we are hiring into a Software Engineering / Customer Support role. We primarily develop and maintain Web-based repository services for a wide variety of both education and commercial organisations all over the World. At our core is an open source repository platform, EPrints, which provides a flexible way to configure operations concerning data capture, structure and presentation, and a range of services that allow content to be accessed in a variety of ways. We support our many customers by maintaining our own Linux based virtual hosting infrastructure. We are a well established small Enterprise team based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. About You As part of the team, you will take responsibility for the development and support of customer focused projects, for both EPrints systems and more varied engineering activities. These typically relate to open access, open data, digital education, content management and systems integrations. All projects require some level of design, programming, testing, project management, and customer support. It is essential you have: Proven industrial experience and / or PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Computer Science or related discipline. In addition, some knowledge of Linux as well as Web relevant technologies, for example XML, SQL, JavaScript and CSS is required. Experience in high level programming languages such as Python, PHP or Perl will be highly desirable. This role is offered on a full-time fixed term contract initially for two years. It is normal for us to extend contracts on a rolling two-year basis. Job Purpose: The POD robotics team is building up 3 specific domains capabilities to meet complex industry demands that spans across hardware, software, and AI. Adding a Full-Stack Robotics PO would add to the capability of the robotics team. This role will establish our technical standards by leveraging ROS2 and RMF to build standardised, reusable middleware for multi-robot coordination and fleet management as we embark to integrate with JTC ODP and enable center for conducting the testing certification at PDD when the sandbox is established. Knowledge of Embodied AI (SLAM, Reinforced Learning) is also critical for developing shared, plug-and-play autonomy capabilities that drastically accelerate project development speed. With a strong foundation in Mechatronics, this individual guarantee hardware-software integrity and mitigates technical risk by prototyping and troubleshooting physical components in-house. Recruiting this role is a strategic necessity to fuse these disparate domains, allowing the team to deliver robust, standardised modules and support our applied research portfolio. Experience with Robotics Middleware Framework (RMF) for multi-robot system coordination, fleet management, and interoperability is highly desirable. Proficiency in PCB design/prototyping, troubleshooting hardware issues, and using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) will be an added advantage. Good programming skills in C, Python and/or C++ in a Linux environment (e.g. Ubuntu) Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git or CVS). Knowledge and some practical experience in areas such as Reinforcement Learning (RL), imitation learning, motion planning, computer vision, or SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) as applied to physical robotic agents will be an added advantage. A Master's degree (or a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

About the Role Maintenance Technician - Plumber 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Plumbing Technician to join our Estates and Facilities team. We are seeking a highly motivated individual- either a Grade 7 PhD holder, or a Grade 6 graduate - to join the EYESAVE project, funded by the Vivensa Foundation Trust, as a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Lead. The project addresses the growing demands on glaucoma care by developing an AI-enabled triage platform that integrates retinal imaging, clinical data, and machine learning to support early detection and prioritisation of patients at risk of vision loss. The role involves leading PPIE activities to ensure that patient perspectives and lived experiences shape the design, development, and evaluation of the technology throughout the project. Working in collaboration with clinicians, AI researchers, and vision scientists at Newcastle University, Sunderland Eye Hospital and Newcastle RVI, this position offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful impact by embedding co-production and patient voice into cutting-edge research. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in public engagement, health research involvement, or community partnership working to contribute to a high-impact project with strong potential for clinical adoption and real-world benefit. This post is fixed term for 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time) as the project is time and funding-limited. The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague.
