The appointee is expected to play an important role in the team on molecular mechanisms of protective immune responses during HIV infection or cancer immunotherapy. He/She will perform multiple types of sequencing data analysis and develop analytical tools in the field of immunology. The Faculty of Medicine School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, supported by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HIOWH), wishes to appoint an Associate Professor / Senior Clinical Lecturer in General Psychiatry. The successful candidate will have previously won external funding, have a strong record of research and publication, and be expected to develop a programme of research with support from clinical and laboratory-based colleagues. They will have demonstrable potential to acquire further independent funding and be expected to gain external funding equivalent to around 50% of the salary beyond the first three years. They will contribute to academic leadership within the Faculty and Trust and enhance the quality of research, enterprise and teaching. The successful candidate will hold a primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC or equivalent organisation, have MRCPsych or an equivalent recognised qualification, a certificate of completed specialist training (or equivalent) in general psychiatry, and a PhD or DM or equivalent relevant higher degree. The University Department of Psychiatry pursues research in affective disorders, alcohol use disorders, behavioural addictions, dementia, psychopharmacology, neuroimaging and psychoneuroimmunology.
