Kabarak University was set up by Daniel Arap Moi, previous president of Kenya in 2002. His son Gideon, previously pro-chancellor and already an honorary graduate, succeeded him as chancellor. The university is located in the city of Nakuru, Kenya. Faculties include business and economics, education, humanities and social sciences, medicine and health sciences, law, music and media, pharmacy, science, engineering and technology, and the Institute of Postgraduate Studies. The university offers a range of sports clubs for students to get involved with including football, basketball, netball and volleyball. The main campus is a 240 hectare former farm, while a new city campus was opened in 2022 to replace the previous city campus.

Description The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support innovative clinical and translational research on brain health and disease in diverse populations within the UAE and wider MENA region. The successful applicant will play a central role in the day-to-day execution of human-subjects research studies, working within a multidisciplinary team of faculty investigators, research assistants, clinicians, and students. The position involves coordinating clinical and observational research protocols that integrate advanced neuroimaging, neuromonitoring, and behavioural methods, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, participant safety, and high-quality data collection. Key responsibilities include coordinating participant recruitment and workflow (pre-screening, informed consent, scheduling, and follow-up), maintaining regulatory and ethics documentation, liaising with clinical partners and imaging facilities, and overseeing clinical aspects of MRI, EEG, and MEG sessions. The Junior Research Scientist / Clinical Coordinator will also contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, support training of research assistants and students, track study progress and recruitment metrics, and assist with grant applications, ethics submissions, and progress reporting. The role works closely with dedicated neuroimaging and research assistants who focus on technical data acquisition, imaging pipelines, and analysis, while the Clinical Coordinator leads clinical governance and participant-facing workflows. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, nursing, or a related field; a Master’s degree or clinical qualification (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical psychology) is strongly preferred. Candidates should have 2–3 years of experience coordinating human-subjects research or clinical trials, ideally in neurology, psychiatry, or related areas, and demonstrated familiarity with ethical and regulatory requirements for human research. Experience working with patient populations and/or in neuroimaging or neuromodulation environments (MRI, EEG, MEG, TMS) is highly advantageous. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages spoken in the UAE is an asset. The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in consumer society research The successful applicant may be appointed to a permanent professorship or a fixed-term associate professorship / assistant professorship (tenure track system), depending on qualifications and career stage. The appointee is expected to contribute to theoretical and conceptual advancements in understanding consumer society, more specifically the socio-economic implications of consumer culture, the development of new markets, and the evolution of consumption. Issues such as geopolitical tensions, industrial policy, debates over strategic autonomy, and the restructuring of global supply chains are increasingly shaping consumer societies. DUTIES The appointee will deliver top-level research-based teaching, supervise theses and dissertations. The appointee is expected to have a demonstrated ability to secure external funding, an international network of relevant research collaboration, and sufficient managerial skills for leading academic work. The position’s teaching includes the development of several new course offerings and an ongoing commitment to make them an inherent part of CCSR’s pedagogical future. The applicant will be expected to take a leadership role in developing consumer studies as part of current or future degree programs. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate shall have a doctorate in an applicable social science field. The doctoral degree requirement must be met by the end of the application deadline. An appointee to the position of assistant professor / associate professor in the tenure track system shall hold a doctoral degree and have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work as well as the teaching skills required for the position. In addition, the appointee shall have the capacity and potential to pursue an academic career at a high level, as demonstrated by publications and other means. In assessing the applicants’ qualifications, attention shall be paid to scientific publications and research, teaching experience and qualifications, international experience and collaborations, and success in the acquisition of external research funding. An appointee to the position of professor shall hold a doctoral degree and have high-level academic qualifications; experience in leading scientific research; the ability to provide research-based teaching and supervise dissertations and theses; as well as evidence of international cooperation in the research field they represent. The appointee shall also have academic leadership skills. When considering the applicant’s qualifications, attention shall be given to scientific publications and other research results of scientific value, teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce teaching material, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a demonstration of teaching skills as well as the applicant’s participation in doctoral education. It investigates from a social scientific perspective the challenges consumer society faces, issues of growth, energy use and sustainability, the tensions and contradictions of digitalisation, and the development of consumer citizenship. The Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering invites applications for the position of PROFESSOR IN INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY The position can be filled at any level of the Aalto tenure track system (assistant, associate or full professor). The position is full-time and, depending on the positioning on the tenure track, either on fixed or permanent term. The position and our expectations The core theme of the professorship is Chemical Reaction Engineering. We seek a candidate who can translate reaction chemistry into reactor and process solutions for industrial production, grounded in strong understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics. Expected competencies include: Reaction engineering fundamentals: kinetics of catalytic and non-catalytic reactions, thermodynamics, and ability to combine molecular to catalyst and larger scale phenomena. Chemical reaction engineering, reactor design and scale-up for feasible, efficient, sustainable, and industrially relevant processes. Understanding unit processes and operations central to chemical industry production chains. Ability to lead and develop experimental work and modeling in the field of professorship. Your responsibilities will include: Teaching and developing educational activities in the field of chemical reaction engineering at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, including theoretical courses and laboratory practice. Carrying out high-quality research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as disseminating research results to various interest groups including professionals, students, and academics. Contributing proactively and collegially to the success of the school and department and its societal impact, industrial relevance and international visibility. Attracting competitive funding to initiate and lead research projects, defining an ambitious research agenda and recruiting researchers to your group. Your experience and ambitions A doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is a prerequisite for the position. The applicants will be reviewed based on their excellence and future potential in scientific research and teaching, and their active role within the international scientific community, adjusting expectations with the level of recruitment to the tenure track. We appreciate team players who can build collaborative projects with industry and other research groups within and outside Aalto University.
