JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) formerly Known as Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara University & JSS University, is an institute of higher education focussed on medical and health related studies in Mysore, Karnataka, India.It was established in 2008 under the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions.

This deemed-to-be university is recognized by MHRD and accredited by NAAC with A+ Grade.

India’s Department of Higher Education to higher educational institutions in India working at a very high standard in a specific area of study, which can enjoy academic status and  privileges of a university. The institution provides medical courses at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, under the leadership and gracious Patronage of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji , the Chancellor ,Pro Chancellor, Dr.B.Suresh, and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Surinder Singh.

JSS AHER comprising of JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College & Hospital, the Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Management Studies, Department of Water and Health, Department of Bio Medical Sciences , Department of Nutrition & Dietetics , Department of Yoga   and two pharmacy colleges: JSS College of Pharmacy at the main campus in Mysore, and JSS College of  Pharmacy  and School of Life Sciences in Ootacamund (Ooty) Tamil Nadu.

Established through funds received from the Department of Science and Technology, the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) is a research laboratory in Mysore, which focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cancer pathogenesis and regenerative biology. The Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India has recognized JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, as Centre of Excellence for carrying out clinical trials. Centre for Clinical Excellence Research (CCRE), TIFAC Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in Herbal Drugs sanctioned by the Department of Science & Technology. The Indian Pharmacopeia commission has recognized JSS AHER as a regional coordinating center for Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI).WHO International Drug Monitoring Programme located at Uppsala, Sweden has partnered with JSS AHER to establish a strategic framework for collaboration to conduct training programmes for capacity building in Pharmacovigilance for the Asia-Pacific region. WHO Global Vaccine Safety Initiative program has partnered with JSS Medical College & Hospital to promote quality and safe use of vaccines. JSS Hospital is identified by WHO as a sentinel site for multi-country vaccine safety studies.

Today, more than 700+ faculty members instruct 7000+ undergraduate and graduate students and around 500 research scholars. The research outputs have supported high impact publication in premier scientific journals and have contributed new knowledge to the understanding of newer drugs, therapy, and treatment through innovations, patent, and centers of excellence. More than 500 students from 26 different countries are presently perusing various courses at the JSS AHER.  Eight hostels – 4 for boys and 4 for girls with space to accommodate about 3000+ students. The institution also has a training and placement cell, which maintains relationships with industries and guides students towards finding employment, through skill and interview preparation. The research outputs have supported high impact publication in premier scientific journals and have contributed new knowledge to the understanding of newer drugs, therapy, and treatment through innovations, patent, and centers of excellence. More than 500+ students from 26 different countries are presently perusing various courses at the JSS AHER.
