Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognized university. Experience: A seasoned technical specialist with 10+ years of industry experience in software development lifecycles, with strong technical expertise and hands-on development experience. Programming Languages: C#, C/C++, Python, Java. Software Engineering Principles: Expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, and API Development. Cloud & DevOps Technologies: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Passion for supporting research and academic projects, with a track record of developing software solutions to address technical challenges. Extensive industry experience and knowledge to provide valuable industry perspectives in an academic setting. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a keen interest in working closely with students in a learning environment. Committed to continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements. Professional certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage. Candidates with exposure to Big Data and AI technologies will have an added advantage in supporting advanced research and applied projects.

FACULTY POSITIONS IN ENGLISH LITERATURE (Open-rank Tenure-Track) The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) was established in 2022. The CIS is a community of interdisciplinary scholars who contribute to the delivery of the University’s Core Curriculum for all undergraduate students and also offers the nation’s only individualised major. Both missions emphasise the importance of integrating ideas and perspectives across the disciplines associated with the other SMU Schools (Accountancy, Business, Economics, Computing, Law, and Social Sciences), with a particular focus on SMU’s Strategic Priorities. We are looking to fill one full-time Faculty position of tenure-track or education-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of English, World or Comparative Literature, depending on the candidates’ qualifications. The field is broadly defined but there is a preference for scholars who demonstrate an ability to engage with deeply interdisciplinary conversations. Expectations of the role include: Publishing in top-tier journals and applying for competitive funding awards. Teaching in our Undergraduate Core Curriculum, such as in courses under the Communities or Civilisations pillars, electives, and/or the Big Questions Freshman module. Creating and delivering new writing support or creative writing courses. Advising CIS students on their Bachelor of integrative Studies (BIS) programmes, a ‘design-your-own’ Major (and Second Major). Providing service to the College and University by serving on committees, participating in events, outreach and admissions activities and, where appropriate, engagement with industry/academic stakeholders.
