The name of the university "Jinan" comes from "The Tribute of Yu" in the Book of History, one of the Confucian Classics, which reads, "Reaching Eastward to the North and South, we shall spread the culture far and wide". 

Though going through ups and downs with the history of the nation since its founding in 1906, Jinan University has never lost its way in the pursuit of truth and knowledge. Under the guidance of the school motto "loyalty, sincerity, integrity and respect", in line with the aim of "modernization, internationalization and comprehensiveness", Jinan University has been developing quickly in recent years and has turned out more than 200,000 graduates.

Knowledge of the UAE higher education landscape is highly desirable, as is familiarity with UK or Scottish HE systems. Experience in internationalisation, partnerships, and transnational education is essential; Arabic language skills are an advantage. Robotics is reshaping the future of engineering — and mechanical engineering is at the heart of this transformation. In particular, the rapid growth of soft and intelligent robotics research is opening exciting new opportunities for innovation, impact, and real-world solutions. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes within one of the region’s most highly ranked engineering schools. With around 35 dedicated full-time faculty members and state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, the Department provides an inspiring environment where innovation thrives.
