It is based on the collaboration and synergy of several research programs targeting diverse disciplines of research in agriculture, such as Microbiome, Omics, Plant Physiology and Crop Improvement, Plant Pathology, By-products Valorization, Soil Sciences, Agronomy, and Sustainable Farming… AGBS - UM6P is seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the study of seaweed biology and its valorization. The position focuses on developing innovative and sustainable strategies for converting seaweeds biomass into valuable bio-based products and understanding the biological properties of seaweeds, with an emphasis on their potential applications in biotechnology, agriculture, and other bioproducts applications. This research will explore the chemical and biological aspects of seaweeds, along with their valorization for new products such as biostimulants to enhance soil health and carbon sequestration. Job Responsibilities Conduct cutting-edge research on the conversion processes of various types of biomass (e.g., seaweeds) into valuable bio-based products. Investigate and optimize technologies for biomass pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation, and other biochemical or thermochemical processes. Investigate the potential of seaweed-derived compounds for use in agriculture, including their role as biostimulants, organic fertilizers, or crop protection agents. Develop and optimize methods to extract, isolate, and characterize valuable bioactive compounds (e.g., polysaccharides, proteins, polyphenols) from seaweeds. Assess the potential applications of seaweed-based products in agriculture. Design and conduct experiments to assess the functional properties of seaweed extracts and their impact on soil health, plant growth, and environmental sustainability. Explore innovative methods for processing of seaweeds to ensure sustainable valorization and minimize environmental impact. Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods, providing insights into the biological properties of seaweeds and their industrial applications. Prepare research findings for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present results at international conferences and symposia. Present research findings at conferences and collaborate with industry partners or stakeholders on practical applications of research. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including experts in marine biology, environmental science, agricultural technology, and industrial biotechnology. Mentor graduate students, interns, or research assistants involved in related projects. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Strong background in biomass conversion technologies (e.g., thermochemical, biochemical, or enzymatic processes). Experience with seaweed valorization, biochemical analysis, and extraction techniques. Familiarity with the industrial valorization of marine resources, including their potential applications in agriculture. Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and statistical software. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven track record of scientific publications. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Excellent communication skills in English. Description The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) at the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a highly motivated associate research scientist candidate in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for materials science, with an emphasis on structure-property-relationships, materials optimization, materials under extreme conditions, and generative AI. Candidates must possess substantial experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, specifically in AI-driven materials discovery, machine learning applications for materials, or generative AI related to materials. The successful candidate will independently lead a project focused on developing generative AI models to establish structure-property relationships for materials discovery. This individual will be expected to collaborate closely with the project team and coordinate efforts with experimentalists from the Smart Materials Lab (SML) and the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at NYUAD. The results of this work are anticipated to be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at prominent conferences. We offer unique opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations, organization of scientific workshops, and attendance at conferences. Key qualifications include a PhD with at least 3 years in a relevant field, expertise in AI/ML (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Python), interest in materials applications, and a strong publication record.
