Isra University was founded in 1991 by the Jordanian Higher Education Council.

The university is located in Amman, the capital and largest city of Jordan.

There are 10 faculties within the university: arts, business, law, engineering, pharmacy, information technology, educational sciences, nursing, sciences, and allied medical sciences. Each faculty offers a variety of courses at both undergraduate and graduate degree level.

For those looking for a more flexible approach to their studies, the university offers a selection of evening studies programmes. These programmes were introduced in the 2003/2004 academic year for workers in both the public and private sector who were interested in furthering their education.

Students at the university are given the opportunity to study abroad for one or two semesters at one of its partner institutions. The university has developed partnerships across the globe with institutions such as the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India and the Moulay Ismail University in Morocco.

The Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies was established in the 1996/1997 academic year. Its aim is to contribute to the development of society by expanding the academic staff’s areas of knowledge and abilities through scientific discoveries and formulation of new theories.
