The Instituto Superior Politécnico de Ndalatando (ISPNd) was originally founded in 2011 as the Escola Superior Politécnica do Cuanza Norte. In 2020, it was granted full autonomy through a presidential decree, becoming a public institution of higher education with administrative and financial independence.
The institute is located in N’dalatando, the capital of Cuanza Norte.
A major new campus is under construction in the Catome de Baixo neighbourhood, set to expand capacity to over 5,000 students. The project includes 40 classrooms, labs, dormitories, sports facilities, and a modern library.
The institute is home to several faculties offering undergraduate degree programmes in a range of subject areas including public health, nursing, law, accounting, management informatics, public administration, electrical engineering, and agronomy.

Job Description As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join an exciting applied research project within the Infocomm Technology cluster at SIT. This project addresses the critical challenge of delivering real-time Artificial Intelligence (AI) services in Internet of Things (IoT) networks, where latency and timeliness are paramount. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end investigation of novel edge-assisted offloading strategies for IoT networks. The role will bridge rigorous theoretical work with hands-on offloading algorithm design and development for IoT networks. The core responsibility is to build and validate edge-assisted offloading strategies, complete with software APIs, through rigorous simulations and live demonstrations. This position is ideal for a researcher with a passion for solving complex problems at the intersection of wireless communications, edge computing, and machine learning, and who is eager to translate theoretical insights into practical, IoT systems. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure all project deliverables are met. Derivation of closed-form theoretical latency and timeliness expressions for cloud-hosted AI services and edge-assisted offloading strategies. The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT.
