Instituto Politécnico de Bragança is a university of applied sciences located in Bragança, a city in northeastern Portugal.

There are a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes on offer at the university. For students looking to study in English, there are three undergraduate courses available: chemical engineering, iInformatics engineering, and iInternational business management.

The following master’s programmes are also taught in English: biotechnological engineering, chemical engineering, entrepreneurship and innovation, informatics, management, management of forest resources, product and process iInnovation, and translation.

Research is carried out in eight main areas. These include health, demographic change and wellbeing, secure, clean and efficient energy, and smart, green and Iintegrated transport.

The International Relations Office is responsible for overseeing the university’s international activity. It aims to promote cooperation, mobility and transparency with other higher education institutions in Europe and around the world and to develop study abroad partnerships.

There are several Portuguese language programmes available for international students who are looking to learn more about the Portuguese language and culture. These programmes teach students more about the social and economic issues affecting Portuguese speaking countries.

You will be working in an exciting and varied role that blends one to one, and mass fundraising, as part of the Leadership Giving team within the Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement department. The postholder will support fundraising for exciting and impactful initiatives across the university. The primary responsibility of the role is to manage two of the flagship Leadership Giving Programmes: the Kingsmaker Guild and Key to King’s. Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Evolutionary Biology  Modelling the Evolution of Sex-Specific Differences in Life History and Immunity Supervisor: Dr. Piret Avila Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Academy Research Fellow Dr. Piret Avila are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to develop theoretical work on the evolution of sex-specific differences in immunity and life history traits. We are accepting applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The ideal starting date is February/March 2026, but it can be later.  The position involves developing mathematical models to understand how natural selection shapes sex-specific immune strategies. The goal is to generate quantitative predictions testable against empirical data from diverse ecological contexts. We use methods from theoretical evolutionary biology, including optimal control theory, life history modelling, adaptive dynamics, and population genetics. This position is part of the interdisciplinary consortium at the University of Helsinki, Sex Differences in Immunity, led by Dr. Avila, which brings together researchers across evolutionary biology, immunology, genomics, demography, and statistics to bridge evolutionary and mechanistic explanations of sex differences in immunity. Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in chemical biology with a strong focus on biocatalysis. The associate will join a multi-disciplinary research team within the Schnepel group that focuses on the development of novel biocatalysts for the synthesis of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and bioconjugation chemistry. The research project led by Dr Christian Schnepel will involve the discovery, development and study of biocatalysts for the synthesis of peptide-based therapeutics. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the industry partner Johnson & Johnson in Belgium to develop cutting-edge bio-synthetic methodologies for drug discovery and large-scale manufacturing. This post is fixed term for 12 months. The MRC funding is available for this fixed period only. The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols.
